Moog Voyager AE - HELP!

Hi Forum,
I just brought a Moog minimoog voyager AE signed brand new about 3 days ago.
I am experiencing a problem when feeding a audio drum loop into the external input to be processed by the VCO, filter and noise components.
When I have inputed the sound into the moog and start tweaking the knobs to find a good sound the volume level slowly drops away unitl it is unheard. It seems as if the power is being lost and the power supply is slowly discharging what power is left. Could I be overdriving the exteral input? Is this a safety feature to stop further damage on other electrical components? How can I prevent this from occuring?????
I love my moog and don't want to break anything, I hope it's not a fault.
Please can someone help me on this.
Regards,
joam
