Hello,
is it generally possible to get the same bass-sounds with a voyager as with a minitaur?
I'm in love with the minitaur sounds but with the possibilities of a voyager too. Cant decide what to buy.
yes, i need to compare by myself but would know whats your opinion
about the diferences between the Voyager and minitaur in case of bass like sounds.

No.
There is a difference in circuitry. Neither will get the sound of the other.

There's "only" a difference of about $2600 between the two. (Minitaur and Voyager Performer)
That should also be a concern... Unless money is no object.

NO. The special way the Minitaur does not change the overall volume so much during slow detuning beatings is unique to the original Taurus, Taurus 3 and the Minitaur. And even the oscillators do not sound alike.

There's a thread over on the Taurus sub-forum with a scientific reply by MC which explains the architectural differences of the two methodologies;
But I wanted to mention that, aside from the obvious differences between products and the obvious similarities across the core of the 4-pole filter, each Moog product has sonic characteristics that are difficult to quantify; it's a bit like describing wine; terms like nutty and oakey come to mind.
But seriously, to demonstrate this, I put together a four voice Moog using:
- Taurus 3
- Minitaur
- Little Phatty Tribute
- Voyager Old School
... and, starting with the Taurus's basic wave form, attempted to build up a few 'patches' through which all four voices sounded similar to the extent that you could not discern one from the other. It was very very difficult. But the amount of effort and gear (cost) was well outside of anything reasonable.
I'm going to put together a few brief tracks this coming weekend to illustrate and perhaps to quiz the folks here. Certainly, Phatty did not have the punch of the Minitaur; it had the 'pop' but not the punch and the overdrive didn't really help much as it changed the sound noticably.
Interestingly, pumped through a single set of envelopes and a MOTM-440 modular Filter produced a nice playable instrument, but the lack of discreet filters per voice make it behave more like modes 1 & 2 of the Opus 3 than a 'proper' Poly. More to come...

Thank you guys for the informations.
I figured something like that. The bad result: I need to buy booth.
The good result: I have a reason to buy booth.
Sometime.
