My Slim Phatty has crashed...I think.

Hi there,
Got a SP brand new about 2-3 months ago and its not working anymore. Does not respond to MIDI notes and this is what the screen shows after a browse through some menus.
And then if I turn the dial once again I go into a blank screen

and turning the dial counter clock does not go back into the weird screens, it just stays blank.
What is even more worrying is that inserting a TRS jack into the GATE CV does not make the Phatty output any signal.
My mac picks up when I (dis)connect the Phatty's USB cable.
Suggestions?
Peace out.

Had another look into the manual, did a Factory Restore. Problem solved.
There went all my presets...oh well...
Peace out.

Now its giving me a "SySex Tuning CheckSum Error". What do I do to sort this out?

I saw that once here on the forums. Search for "checksum" or "check sum", you are likely to find what you're looking for.
I wish it will be ok

The search directed me to this thread and another 14 page thread of pointless arguing about the Tribute Edition.
No luck...

When I briefly had my SP, before returning it for an LP, I had this issues several times. I found that it was caused by the MIDI Keyboard I was using. I have an old Midiman Radium. When I used my new M-Audio Oxygen25, the problem stopped. If you are using a MIDI keyboard, try controlling it another way to see if the problem repeats. But, really, your best bet is to contact Moog Tech Support, if the SP is brand new and registered.

Grounding related? I saw a number of issues that caused crazy characters and weird behavior related to power/ground. I'm not sure if this only applies to the Slim?

Try making sure you are the slim is not receiving midi data while powering up. Best to just unplug the midi in cable. Also, double check that you don't have a midi loop.
This bug was fixed, but I am not sure which firmware versions you have. Note that there are two firmwares for both the stage 2 and slim phatties. The main processor firmware and the usb processor (handles din midi too) firmware.

The only thing I changed in my set up, was adding NI Maschine. Still though the first few days where having both the Phatty and the Maschine coexisting just fine on my USB ports.
No ground loops, no midi loops, its all as it where...
I'll have a go installing the latest firmware available on the Moog site...been desperately wanting to record sounds from the SP, but I haven't been able to for the last few days...very frustrating

I've installed the latest OS and Firmware off the Slim Phatty page on the Moog site but that did not work either...the problem has slightly varied, i.e. the buttons on the panel get stuck, the dial indications freeze and I still get them weird characters, on different screens and yet again at some point the screen is going blank again...I've tried disconnecting my MIDI controller and rebooted, just in case my MIDI controller was playing up, but no joy there either.
There goes me thinking I paid extra cash for a rock solid synth...

I switched on my Slim Phatty yesterday morning and it was working 100%...haven't changed anything in my set up which makes things even more strange.
Fingers crossed it will stay like this.
Thanks for the your time and help people.
Peace out.

Trying to understand how the solution to my problems came about, I noticed that opening a Logic template that is not sending Midi Time Code down the port where the Slim Phatty is receiving MIDI information, has the SP working without hick ups.
Hope this helps someone that might get the same trouble as I did, in the future.
Peace out.

Interesting you say that about MTC, my LP went back when I experienced the same issues you have.
I'm also a Logic user and it was hooking up a Tempest and playing with MTC settings that 'might' on reflection have triggered my same issues.
I stress 'might' however, as I really can't be sure and I've had no issues with the replacement LP.
cheers, Simon
