Getting started, Phatty & OSX Lion

Hey all,
I'm a newbie, and I'm having a bit of trouble updating the firmware on my used LP. It seems not to be recognizing the LP (stage ii) when I connect it to my Mac air with USB. The LP is running firmware 2.32 now. I realize this is probably a silly mistake, but if you guys could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it!

Nobody can tell me how to update the firmware on a LP using a mac running lion from 2.2 to the current build?

Sorry, I have Snow Leopard. Have you tried plugging the USB cable in before starting the program you are using to update the firmware?

Run 'System Profiler' under your Apps | Utilities menu and see if Phatty shows up there (it should).
If it doesn't, no point in bother with the other 'layers' of drivers, etc.
If it does show up, then have a look at 'Audio Midi Setup' also under your Utilities menu, view the Midi topology under the Window | Show Midi Window function and see if it shows up there.
Finally, you ought to be able to choose it in your SysEx utility (SysEx Librarian by Snoize?)
If all of this fails, there may be some anomaly with the code in your Phatty and Lion. Do other USB devices work properly (Printers or USB hubs?).
Having said all of this, I'm running Snow Leopard as well but a bottom up approach to troubleshooting will hopefully find your issue. I've got all types of software that I'm just not ready to roll the dice with including UAD II, MOTU ClockWorks, Ivory, Saffire MixControl, OP-X, etc. It's endless and I KNOW something will break if I upgrade. But the basic USB Phatty ought to be a bit more straightforward.
If you have a friend with a class compliant DIN Midi interface, that might be worth a whirl; meaning, transfer new code in via DIN instead.
