Ordering from Moogmusic

Hi guys and gals,
Is it possible to order from Moogmusic directly? The prices in the States are a hell of lot cheaper than the UK.
I was interested in the MF-103 Phaser. Does anyone have any experience of using this? If so what do you think?

Don't forget shipping costs and the dreaded import tax (VAT)........there are still savings to be made though regardless.
I got my Voyager from them direct.

Just out of interest how much import tax (percentage) would one have to pay on the Voyager?

You can't order direct from Moog if you're in the UK. I e-mailed them, and this is the reply I received:
`Unfortunately, we cannot sell directly to individual customers.
Also, we cannot ship anything to the UK with a Moog logo on it.
Sorry for the inconvenience.'
Your best bet is to contact Turnkey, Moog's British distributor. They have an outlet in London and also do a postal delivery service. I ordered a Voyager from them, and it arrived very promptly, well packaged and everything as it should be.
BTW the reason for the Moog logo issue is that some character in Wales bought the Moog name when it was available, and won't let it go.

There's been a few horror stories about Turnkey posted on this forum.
If someone really wants a Voyager, or anything else with the sacred Moog logo on it, there is nothing stopping them going to the US, or any other country, and buying one. Besides, it gives an excuse to leave this depressing country and go on holiday!

Hmmm.....that would be shipping, VAT -and- travel expenses then
Must admit though that I was unaware of the Moog stance re shipping direct to UK customers (I know this hasn't always been the case - perhaps there has been some renewed legal activity re the trademark issue).
I assume that this restriction (technically) applies to those (non-UK) European Moog distributors who tout Moog branded Voyagers to UK clients. I guess that Moog would be breaking the law should someone in the UK purchase a Moog branded unit from, say, a distributor in Germany.
Not a happy situation.

Quite possibly. Maybe someone from Moog could explain. I too was thinking of getting the Phaser.

So, basically, nobody in the world is allowed to sell a Moog branded product to a person in the UK, unless its a private sale (i.e. ebay)?
If it was Korg or Yamaha it wouldn't matter, but Moog is a legendary name!

I read about the UK franchise two years ago, when the Voyager first appeared. Allegedly, Dr. Moog acquired the rights to distribute Moog goodies in every part of the world, except the United Kingdom. I'm still a bit sore about that; you'd think whoever owns the franchise over there would've relinquished it, by now. Then, we wouldn't need any of this middle-man shite.

Well I bought my Voyager SE, VX-351, CP-251 and recently a MuRF directly from moog . . right off the website so they must have changed thier policy on shipping to the UK.
If anyone is looking for a MINT, moogmusic branded cherry Voyager SE (#86), complete with 251/351 break out boxes in rack, I have one going for £2300. Latest 2.5 OS, fully functional, with gigbag, dust cover, lamp, manuals, certificate etc, etc . . even has 18 months left on the moog waranty.
Collection from South London or buyer pays shipping to UK mainland only.
email for photos.

The easiest solution to this incredibly frustrating problem would be to assinate Alex Winter!
By the way, good to see you back on the forum, Mal.

Good to be back
Life has thrown me a few spanners over the last 5 months . . . had to sell off most of my collection (sold 24 MINT analogues), i would rather have the money then give it all to the 'soon to be' Ex!! and i will probably end up in the States by the end of the year . . so no doubt I'll be buying a few back (cheaper too).
Down to my last 6 moogs . . . keeping my lovely memorymoog and MIDI Source, and then 2 Rhodes Chromas, and that's it.
Also got a nice Opus3 going for £400 . . in flightcase, all new toggles, sliders and slider tops . . big sound, totally underated unit . . oozes Vintage sound.
