Changing LED control colors?

Has anyone replaced the red / orange LEDs in their LP with blue / some other color? Is it something that a technically astute person could do themselves?
Also, I saw someone mention that Moog might do this as a factory mod. True? And if so, how much?

Hey man! There is a guy on this forum (Voltor07) that posts about his "Amos Gaynes Signature Edition LP" that he sent in to have blue LEDs I think put in. So I am pretty sure this is an option. It might be good to contact him or Amos directly.
With most musical instrument questions, the answer is usually yes and dollars.
Good luck and post your findings please. It would be interesting to find out just how many dollars.

Yes, the option is there. What you need to do is get an RMA from Moog, by e-mailing Amos at Moog Music dot com, and you can talk to him about color options. Moog charged me $1.00 USD per LED, plus labor.

The red LED's are pre-existing. Amos just changed the amber button lights to blue. I also had some custom coco bolo side panels made with brass inlay. This picture is from over a year ago, and was taken in my parent's house.

They were $120 for both of them. From what I gather, the left one was VERY complicated, due to coco bolo having weak grain. The grain had to go in a specific direction in order for the wood to be cut as thin as needed, and three pieces had to be wasted before the left panel was completed. Luckily, the guy also makes wood pens, so nothing was actually wasted. Still, a complicated process, indeed!

I feel like you owe me for a new keyboard on my computer -- I just saw that pic of the cocobolo sides and drooled all over it...
That is NICE! I have a router table and have set aside a piece of cocobolo for just that purpose. I am trying to figure out how to do the ins/outs on the left panel. Do you happen to have any shots of that part of the setup?

Joe, if you are handy at wood working, all you need to do is route the finished side out on the underside to the depth of the metal panel under the factory installed plastic one.

When I get off work I will post the left side photo, though I am certain there's one in either my photobucket account or my deviantart.com account.

Ah, I found it on Flickr, no need to take a new one -- thanks!
I see now, I thought the jacks mounted to the sides themselves; I didn't realize there was a metal plate behind them. That makes it a lot easier! I'll do what I normally do for guitars: cut and shape a template with MDF and then use that as my routing guide.
Thanks!
