Animoog Controllers

Hi folks, new here - thought I'd pop in to say I think this is my favourite synth off all my dearly loved synth apps. I've just got the update (woohoo!) and noodling about by sequencing it in Sunvox which is working beautifully with the background audio.
I have a question - what is the controller set up for animoog - specifically what would be the controller number for polypressure?
Thanks in advance

Happy mooging!

Interesting question. I have changed mods from poly-pressure to velocity, which is better than nuthin'. The closest equivalent would be polyphonic aftertouch, but that's a per-note MIDI message that can't be mapped from a CC controller very easily. I think it would have to be programmed into Animoog, and since only high-end controllers send aftertouch that probably wouldn't be high on the fix list.
If you're going through a host machine, you could look at various utilities that translate MIDI messages. I have read that midiconverter3 allows a CC to be mapped into a channel pressure message, which could then be used in the mod in place of poly-pressure. But I haven't tackled that yet. Might be a fun experiment.

Salut,
I want to control animoog from a sequencer that would run on the iPad - not a physical external controller, but an "internal" one. In principle I see no difficulty.
On the midi pannel of animoog I've seen teh name of other apps running in background, such as fir example"Reactable", but could not actually use them to control the synth.
Thx for your help!
Patrick.

You need to both enable the MIDI input source and turn on background audio mode in AM. Then switch over to your control app and see if there's an option for selecting the destination of its MIDI out. One problem I've had is that your controller is producing its own sound, the two will fight for the speaker and CPU cycles and it will sound like garbage. More luck with silent MIDI controllers.

So, can anyone recommend a good controller & interface? I tried one by Alesis a while back and it was way too unreliable... I figure by now some of you have got a solution for this, please share.

this one's nice.

as far as sequencers running on the iPad go, I rather like Genome...

Solutions here are many and varied. Here's mine:
The CME UF5 MIDI controller provides just enough controls for Animoog, the keyboard feels great, and 49 full-size keys provide just the right span for using it a soloing instrument. The keyboard also has a flat surface on the upper right side just big enough to hold an iPad, which is secured with a large square of non-slip material underneath. An iRig MIDI interface module nestles just below the CME's encoder, making for a compact Animoog-based rig that fits nicely on the top of a multi-tiered keyboard stand (and the red end-cheeks ARE a nice touch...).
Can't comment on how this arrangement would hold up under heavy gigging, but I've done a few shows without any problems and the iRig has operated flawlessly throughout.

Thanks Greg, that looks like a pretty cool setup. I wasn't even aware of CME controlles, I may just have to hunt one down now.
