Heya!

Made some great soundscape's using my Voyager + 351 and Clavia Nord Modular as a filterbank. I was wondering.....what are your favorite settings for doing this? And do you have special experiences or story's on this topic you want too share?

Yawgmoth -

You should consider posting your work so that we can all have a listen.

I have spent many hours exploring the Vger + 351 + 251 and a Electrix Filter Factory (has VC inputs) to create long, evolving soundscapes myself. Never thought to record them, however, as I was just 'playing' with the hardware at the time. Wish I had. :-(

Favorite settings for this kind of thing? I start with 'Pad-like' patches and tweak, tweak, tweak. Real-time control is key to make and keep things interesting, IMO. Listen and adjust parameters as you go. Longish envelopes help greatly (wish I had more to apply as modulation sources). Using the Vger's MixOut Loop to process the oscillators is a wonderful way of creating complex and evolving sounds. You can use any parametric or graphic EQ for this if you don't have a dedicated filter box (Moogerfooger, Sherman filter bank, Akai filter bank, etc.) and sweep/adjust the controls manually. Of course, any effect is fodder for processing here (chorus, phaser and flanger work well, and delay/reverb can be interesting too.)
