Midi Murf Guitar

Hey all, i know this has probably been asked a million times but its driving me crazy! I have had my Midi Murf for a couple of months now. Im in love with the thing apart from i cant keep the bastard in time. Its not so much a tempo problem, more to do with the pattern sequence. I was wondering if there was any way to set the murf so each time i play a new chord or note, the sequence starts from the beginning, rather than playing the entire sequence on a loop. Ive seen this done with a Moog synth but i dont know weather it is possible to do this with a guitar. Ive been reading about the firmware update but i dont know weather this will fix my problem. Any help would be great!

You need to somehow send MIDI note 65 to your MuRF

Perhaps from software/DAW, keyboard or foot pedal synth (e.g. Taurus 3)?

Amos wrote:If you already have a pattern in MIDI Sync and you play the F above middle C (MIDI note 65) then the pattern will restart on the next clock step.

If you play any of the Triggered or Sustained Filter MIDI notes (48-60 or 72-84) this stops the pattern, and if you then play MIDI note 65 it will snap back to MIDI sync with a new downbeat set at the instant you played the note.

This may be reaching for something not possible:

Amos / Moog team:
Is there any possibility that the Murf firmware could be updated so that the tap / step CV input could be assigned to a MIDI function or note, so that pattern 6 (for example) allows the tap pedal to be a start / stop for the entire pattern?

This would definitely allow for some expanded use of the Murf in a live scenario!

** edit: I just read the linked thread, and this would work well with your option #1; (if possible of course) the bypass would work as it is for option #1, but you could use the assigned tap / step CV to set the downbeat.

You could use one of these with a foot pedal. You can program it to send any note you like when you hit the pedal, and it incorporates a MIDI merger so you can insert it in line with whatever else you're using to drive the MuRF.
