So, Touch OSC can be used as a step sequencer?! bleep, that's why I got Ableton! All this time I could have downloaded this app for 5 bucks.

Afaik, TouchOSC itself can't be a step sequencer, only if you made a special patch in Max/MSP or smth.

Can touch OSC be used without a laptop?
I read something saying that you can bypass a laptop using the Apple camera convertor kit and MIDI touch - then USB the IPAD directly into the Phatty.
Can anyone confirm this?

That is true that you can transmit midi directly from TouchOSC on an iPad through the camera connection kit. However you will have to use a computer to build and sync your TouchOSC layouts. The layouts I've made aren't terribly complicated but I agree that i don't think you could make a step sequencer with just the app. You would probably need MAX or MAX for Live or something.

Well, I actually found a way you can use your Ipad or Iphone wirelessly. Check it:

I have seen that. Pretty cool. That's about the only way I know of that can transmit wirelessly without a computer. Also it works with the iPhone and iPod Touch, which obviously don't use the camera connection kit.
I have successfully used core MIDI wirelessly on my PC and Mac. I'm planning on using it at my gig in a few weeks, so hopefully that holds up. I'm controlling stuff in Ableton Live and external gear, specifically the MIDI Murf, with one layout. I'm having Live echo the MIDI to the external MIDI stuff and plugins appropriately.
