MP-201 MIDI CC -> CV?

Is there any way to use an MP-201 to produce a CV output from a MIDI CC input?

I'm asking because I'd love to be able to play a Slim Phatty with a Yamaha WX-5 wind controller instead of a keyboard. The WX-5 produces a steady stream of breath messages (CC2) which I would like to use as inputs to both the amplitude and filter cutoff CV, so as I blow harder, the sound becomes both louder and brighter.

Right now I do not see any way to turn CC2 into a CV at all; but maybe I'm missing something.

See page 37 of the MP-201 manual for the MIDI emplementation part of the equation.

Set the MP-201 to Quad Mode. See pages 22-24 for setting up Quad Mode and Expression Mode. Then you would need to select the two CV output channels and set them up for parameter values, voltage offset, and single or bi-polar operation.

Check out preset #33. You might be able to modify that preset to create the result you are looking for.

Thanks! I don't think I would ever have found that without your pointing it out.

Incidentally, it seems that the CC2 messages coming into the MP-201 don't find their way to the MP-201's MIDI output -- only CC2 messages generated by moving the pedal find their way to the output. As the MP-201 has no MIDI THRU function, that makes it necessary to be careful of how things are hooked up. However, I was able to do the following:

WX-5 -> Alesis Micron MIDI input
Micron MIDI THRU output -> MP-201
Micron audio output -> MF-101 Moogerfooger filter
MF-101 audio output -> Amplifier
MP-201 CV 2 output -> MF-101 Frequency input

And voila! I play the WX-5 and my breath controls the filter while the pitch controls the Micron!

Now I guess I'll have to buy a Slim Phatty so I can go all-analog...

I wonder if MIDI Thru is a possibility for the next firmware update?
