Noob using Roland PK-5 with LP

Hey all,

Sorry, I'm a total ignoramus...I'm loving my LP, so I bought a Roland PK-5 foot pedal to play some of the sounds from it with my feet while I play bass. I'm not playing through any computers or using any external software---just the PK-5, the LP, and my PA system.

Being a MIDI noob is crippling me here, I think. Does anyone mind giving me the bare bones "hook this to this" and "turn this channel to this" etc. so that I can get on with playing some music? I think all the MIDI terminology is confusing my small squirrel brain.

thanks in advance!

I used to do the same thing with my LP - basically, you need a MIDI cable - break out the manuals and make sure that the MIDI channels are matching between the two. Oh yeah, make sure it's MIDI out from the PK-5 into the MIDI in on the LP.

Please report back with how you like it. I've been contemplating a similar setup myself.

I'm using that setup on this track:

terminous

I usually screw up the bass pedals and end up rerecording them - most of my shoes are too wide - but on this track this is the original track - everything is played live, spontaneously composed/improvised. I'm using the CP-251 to control the filter on the bass, since I'm using my foot for the drone.

I should add that I really enjoyed playing the LP this way - the only reason I stopped is because I ended up going for the Taurus 3. And actually, the kinds of sounds I used with the LP are actually quite different from what the Taurus puts out.
