MP-201 MIDI gas pedal override

Post by stuart_melvey » Tue Mar 15, 2011 8:09 pm

Hey,

I'm going to purchase the MP-201 soon, and I wanted to ask a theoretical question.

I have Ableton Live sending MIDI CC messages to the MP-201, which are converted into CV which control some moogerfooger parameters. For live performance, I want my MP-201 to be automated via Ableton, but I also want to use the gas pedal for solos, interludes, and extra creative expression when playing live.

If there is constant MIDI data sent from Ableton to the MP-201, can the gas pedal override the incoming MIDI information, then switch back to the MIDI data sent from Ableton Live when I'm not using the gas pedal? Or do you have to designate only one MIDI source?

Hope this makes sense
Stuart

Since no one has replied :? I'll open this up to a more general discussion - is anyone having problems using ableton or another DAW to control the MP201? does the MP201 convert standard MIDI 1-127 CC into -5V to +5V, or just 0V to +5V?

apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere on this forum.

thanks
