Voyager no legato: am I being thick?

Ok, when glide is off there is obviously no portamento. When glide is on, portamento is on all the time. Is there a middle way, i.e. only portamento when you play legato but none for staccato?
I never really bothered with this before because of the lack of filter glide, but I hooked it up through the vx last night and it suddenly struck me that glide is either on or off. Or is it...?

nah, think its on or off on the voyager like the old mini. a legato mode would be great though- surprised noboady mentioned this before as its a great feature to have.i think the pro one has it from what i can remember.

It's either on or off. That's one reason I keep the SH-101 around - for its legato mode, and for the fact that the octave switch operates with portamento.
But now that I think of it, you could simulate such a thing, given sufficient programmability on the part of software: tie a "note on" event to a "portamento on" message, and a "note off" to a "portamento off". Seems to me that it'd work.

Hello,
Sequential referred to this additional glide mode as auto glide, and I've heard other manufacturers refer to it as fingered portamento.
Wouldn't be bad as an added option on the Voyager.
Also, some time ago Bob Doerschuk published a small drawing of a mod to
give the Pro-One's glide an exp response or switched lin/exp option.
