upgrading Voyager

I have an older Voyager Performer which still has the 1.0 OS/Boot ver. I've been trying to upgrade with no luck.
I know I need to install the 1.2/1.5 before I can upgrade to more recent versions. I have downloaded both the .SYX and
.MID files plus MIDI-ox. I keep getting a "ROM CHECKSUM ERROR" message, or my synth doesn't receive anything at all. I have used various settings, as suggested on the forum, and have tried loading both types of files (as well as loading the MIDI files with my Triton sequencer) Nothing works!
I am using an EMU XMIDI 1X1 USB TAB, plug and play. I heard there is a problem with the Windows drivers these use. I have also looked around and it seems most of the interfaces I can find are also plug and play! Any help will be most appreciated!

also: my pitch wheel stopped working when I plugged a computer cable into the accessory port.
(It was silly, I just wanted to see what it would do, but I didn't expect THAT ...it also knocked the tuning out!)
I understand I can calibrate the wheels, but I have to upgrade the software first!

D'oh!

The accessory port usually outputs CV. Parallel port input? You may have fried something wicked! If you have somehow cooked the mainboard you could always go for a Version 3 hardware upgrade. More patches to play with also.

Other than that, our good Freund Rudi should be along shortly.

Thanks for the reply...the chord I plugged into the accessory port was just a chord, nothing plugged into the other side.
I guess I didn't make myself clear in the first post. I was experimenting a while back with the back panel. I didn't actually plug a computer into the accessory port trying to upgrade, it was after I stuck that chord in that I decided I needed to upgrade (when I lost my wheels!)
The synth still plays, though I had to reprogram a few sounds. I found the tuning problems were "fixed" by turning off the mod wheel! I've even used it on a couple of gigs (playing LH bass, w/out the wheels)

Hello Mike and greetings to New Zealand,
OK, if your interface came without own drivers for Windows you will get problems with big Sys files.
Hey, you're not so far away from Asheville, NC - I drove from Atlanta to Asheville for a few times and even for a German guy the distance is not so far
I think it's a really good idea to bring your Voyager to the nice guys in Asheville. Meanwhile there are a few hardware upgrades and I guess when there's software version 1.0 in your Voyager it's a seven years old model and you should do the upgrades.
What happens when you see the bargraph on your MIDIOX program? Does it stop?
BTW your question is better placed in the Voyager forum.
Rudi

Sometimes the bargraph on both the Voyager and MIDIOX will complete and the Voyager will tell me transfer was successful, then it will say it failed. Other times the graph stops and it says ROM error, and sometimes the Voyager immediately says System transfer failed while the MIDIOX graph completes. I posted to the Voyager forum as well, about a month ago, but have had no response. :(
Thanks,
Mike
