ive used my slim phatty with my yamaha p-95 keyboard (via midi), but when i connect my m-audio keyrig 25 to the sp (via midi) i cant get a sound out of it.???

Start with a quick audio check before we bother with MIDI:

Press the Master button on your SP.
Turn the Value knob one click to the left.
Press enter. This should trigger a note to play on the SP, and you should hear a sound.
If not, ensure you are on a patch where the Osc(s) are turned up, and that the SP's Output ON/OFF switch is lit, and the Volume is turned up.
Next, move down your signal chain.
Is the audio cable plugged in?
Is the audio cable plugged in to the Audio OUT?
Does the audio cable terminate at your mixer input? If so you may need to turn up the amplifier to hear anything.
Next make sure your mixer level is set properly, same for your master.

If you are using a DAW, this troubleshooting gets deeper and more complicated, especially depending on your audio interface.
Hopefully you've heard a sound by now.

NEXT:

Start with basic MIDI troubleshooting:

Is the MIDI OUT from the Keyrig going to the MIDI IN of the SP?
Try using a different MIDI cable. Same result?
Is the MIDI controller send the correct channel to match the the SP? (You can check the SP's receiving channel from Master menu)

..is the keyrig cnnected to your computer? those MIDI controllers are rarely independent of the box.

If it has a MIDI OUT it doesn't need to be connected to the computer.

Upon further testing,
have found the midi out to be broken / no signal coming out

While it *could* be broken, make sure it isn't disabled! If the unit has USB MIDI enabled (ENABLED BY DEFAULT), MIDI OUT doesn't work. Try advanced function>press key below "MIDI OUT". I tested this on my Axiom 49 and can confirm MIDI OUT is disabled when you have USB MIDI enabled. Hope that helps!
