Will it be possible in a future update to tune OSC 2 to a perfect fifth? Right now I can only achieve this by using the envelope as a modulator on the pitch of OSC but this is only a workaround.

Is this a software update or a technical limitation?

If Osc. 2 isn't tuning to a perfect fifth, run your Note Calibration from the System Utilities and that should clear it up. Calibrate Osc. 2 first (which only takes a couple minutes) and see if that helps. If not, run the full hour-or-so-long note calibration process. And be sure to warm up your LP for at least a half-an-hour before.

I already tried this. The fifth still isn't a perfect fifth, but more like Wohl Temperiert. Can you post an example of how this transposition sounds on your phatty? Mine definitely isn't perfect. I use a modulation slot on the pitch of OSC with the filter env as a source to achieve this now.

I've got the Stage II, and when both my oscillators are warmed up, calibrated, and in tune I can get a nice 'open' sounding fifth with all the overtones locked up and in sync - just like tuning the strings on my violin. My OSC 2 goes a perfect fifth up and a perfect fifth down from Osc. 1.

So, if I understand your problem correctly, your OSC 2 will tune close to a fifth above OSC 1 but not properly in tune. Using your filter envelope to tune it is a creative solution, but definitely not ideal.

If you tune OSC 2 below OSC 1 by the full amount, does it extend beyond a perfect fifth?

I usually know that it's time to calibrate my oscillators when the OSC 2 fifth is out of tune, either above or below OSC 1. And I find that if the fifth above is too small, the fifth below will be too big, and vice versa.

So if you've warmed up and calibrated your oscillators (including the separately run OSC 2 calibration) and you're still having tuning problems, I would recommend contacting Moog's tech support and seeing what they have to say.

my moog is always warmed up, I will check the down tune as well tomorrow. I turn my phatty on in the morning and off when going to bed. My phatty never had a perfect fifth though, and I tuned it several times. (As a precaution, not because it was out of tune, besides the fifth is very stable for me).

Have you tried tuning the 5th using precision mode?
