Tom Sawyer Patch
Hey guys, My band does Tow Sawyer by Rush. I'm the Bass player and I play a Moog T3. I'm using the "Gordon" preset for that song. Any suggestions how to tweak the patch or should I be using a different patch? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid.

Common myth, that sound wasn't the Taurus it was an Oberheim.

... beat me to it. Check out that rainy city nights page, it is really good.
I actually don't use the Taurus at all when we do TS.

Using the "Gordon" patch, set the filter amount to around 4000, and the resonance to about 2900 - this is what I used to use until I bought my Prophet '08, and it will get you pretty close, even more so if you add just a touch of chorus and slapback delay. If you really want "the sound", pick up a Dave Smith Prophet '08 or a Dave Smith Tetra, and use the "Tom Sawyer" patch - it absolutely nails the sound. The voice architecture of these instruments is almost identical to the old Oberheims, and the "growl" sound is spot-on.
