Minimoog OS Sample and Hold

I'm not sure how to sample and hold with the OS.

How do you do it? I used to own the micromoog and it was just a click of a knob, then you'd get a drone trigger which you could modulate and change its filter and volume envelope.

Help is appreciated.

Check out pages 25-29 of the OS manual: http://www.moogmusic.com/manuals/old_sc ... al_1_0.pdf

But is there any way to alter the filter and volume envelope to give the sample and hold more expression?
My problem is that it's just holding a note then going to the next note. There's no attack and decay, the notes are just held.

If you desire a slope between 'samples', then the next waveform on the LFO the so-called Smooth Sample and Hold is what you are after. You adjust the level via the amount pot below the mod bus and can apply it to any of the destination.

If you have a VX-351, you can take it 'out' and do other things with it without tying up a mod-bus but the rate is still driven by the LFO.

I know this already. I'm trying to get the minimoog to do what my micromoog used to do. That is, the sample and hold would act as a 'trigger' (on, then off, on then off, etc). This would allow me to change the volume and filter envelope to produce short snappy sounds or long drawn out ones. As it currently stands, I'm unable to do this with the minimoog. The envelope GATE has to be ON/EXTERNAL and the sustain has to be all ways up to hear anything. It's not like I can just use decay to give it a nice 'drum' sound and have it cut out before it re-triggers. Hopefully you get what I'm trying to say.

Micromoog S&H = Onnn Onnn Onnn Onnn...

Minimoog S&H = OnnNnnnNnnnNnnnN...

Notice the breaks in the Micro, that's key! This is probably the best way I can explain this.

If it's possible, I want to know how to do this with the Mini OS. Again, notice the breaks in between each 'trigger'.

I wonder if you want a squarewave doing the modulation?

If the bottom of the squarewave goes low enough, it will sound like the gate effect in the video as most of the signal is cutoff by the filter.

If you have a VX-351 you can send the LFO to the envelope trigger to get something similar.

I think it's a matter of sending the LFO to the gate of the KB, thus triggering the KB which will allow me to control the filter and volume envelope as though I were consistently hitting a note on the KB at the rate of the LFO. Right? I guess I need the VX-351, hehe.
