Since Moog Music seems to be in a re-issue mood, we can only hope that the Memorymoog is next ?

That might be tricky - I don't think that those dual concentric potentiometers and the Z80 processors are in plentiful supply..?
Then again they swapped out the Pratt-Read keyboard etc... on the *new* Mini so they could make a work-around... but then, would it still be a "Memorymoog"...!?

"Where there's a will there's a way" as we say (keeping fingers crossed).
With today's technology, an Arduino could probably do all the job of that venerable overstressed Z80...

I have two questions related to the new model d i just ordered.
1- what kind of patch cables do I need for the back panel? Are they just 1/4 inch cables like they use for guitars and such or are they something special? Where should I purchase them? I am assuming I wont need more than three of them if I am not connecting to any external gear, is that right? Also would stackable cables be a good idea on the mini moog or is that not a function it is capable of using-- I am talking about strictly cv out to cv in on the unit-- no external gear.
2- It looks like you can patch the mod wheel directly to the filter cutoff. Does this basically give me direct control over the filter via the mod wheel? Or does it go through the LFO first?

1- Just as you said, simple cables will do.
2- It's more like that: the mod wheel will increase the modulation source action. That source can be the filter envelope or the LFO. In the first case, a short attack and high sustain will allow you to control the filter cutoff frequency.
Hope this helps

Thanks man. Can't wait to get my hands on this thing. I may be backwards but the lack of digital controls sounds great to me. I really lucked out on the model d in stock. Heard about it on gearslutz and got it the next day. I was on a month waiting list somewhere else.

Yes, I feel a sense of relief. less to go wrong. Should the cable be balanced or unbalanced?

If that's the case and they just used today's technology for 'work-arounds' here and there... why not just get a plug-in...?
All you'd have anyway would be something they reckon 'sounds like' a Memorymoog...!?

Unbalanced will do.

How many presets are there in the new Model D? I've heard anywhere from 1 to 1000, which is correct?

There is only one, but you have to turn everything to "11" to activate it!

Got mine today. I had never heard a Model d before except on youtube. It is intense and you can tell the difference between this and my sub 37. I wont say one is better than the other but the D is way bigger that is for sure.
