I bought the latter recently. It was fine when I brought it home, but it's had to stand for a while, as I've been reorganising my studio. Now I can't get a blessed thing out of it; it's a NoMemoryMoog, all the memories would appear to be blank.
First-thing's-first, I need a manual! I doubt that I'm going to get to the bottom of this instrument without one. Then, I'd like to get hold of the factory sounds. Any pointers on where I can find them?

And any idea as to what happened?

Congrats on getting one, they are one of the best Poly analogs out there.


If all of the patches are gone, it's a good chance the battery is dead. Off the top of my head I think it's a 3,3 volt lithium. You can replace it yourself but it may require some soldering. The 3.3 may be hard to find , be careful Lithiums do not like to get too hot as they will explode. See if a local repair shop can do it for you Do Google search, there are a few Memorymoog site, and I think one or two may have the factory patches on it.

Are you able to tweak knobs and get anything ?

21 ( strings) is a very warm, full, fantastic..... sounding patch.

Mine are not working right now, one day I'll get them fixed .

Thanks. I've had a dig and managed to get a manual and the factory presets.

Opus 3

Bought as a "for parts" pile of circuit boards, metal and wood. Now functions 100%. Had broken articulator and strings due to bad 4xxx series chip. It needs a new sticker, anyone reproduce those? The chorus board was missing, but the PO was able to be talked out of it. Wow! its a whole new beastie with that thing in there. Lush doesn't begin to describe it.

The Source - Bought it from the original owner. Should be here soon. Doesn't work (is there any other way to buy a synth?) but it will hopefully be an easy fix (crosses fingers) my first monosynth.

My Moog gear is in my sig.

I have an AE signed by Dr. Bob in silver paint pen on the strip of wood above the keys. I've seen this mentioned in other posts. Anybody else have one? Or know how many AEs are signed like this? Just looking down at his signature everytime I play is so inspiring! If there was a fire in my Apt. my girlfriend is under one arm and my voyager is under the other!

I have a Rogue Moog #7666, and a MoogerFooger Ring Modulator. I designed and had built for me a custom carry case for the pair, with the hopes of buying another MF someday to put into the left side compartment. For now I just keep the cables and such in it. I had the case stained to match the MF's wood panels. I just wanted some wood around the Moog to bring home the idea of it being "vintage" Also, there's now a huge gold & black "Moog" sticker on the top half / side of the case. Something I had found on ebay a few years ago. Somewhere I have a Rogue Moog advertisement poster. I need to take some better pics, these are quite old & small





The Rogue is in great cosmetic shape, just some scratchy sliders. I should probably just get some cleaner and try that out. When I brought the Rogue home, I noticed that some grey gunk was falling out from under the keys when I was inspecting it. I read online about the old foam that turns into tar, so I opened it up and cleaned it all out. What a freaking mess. I decided I should find a way to keep the knobs and such protected, so I cut out some green felt and placed pieces over each switch, knob, and slider. I didn't get a power supply with it, so I asked my stepdad to rig one up for me. It works fine, except that it has some resistors attached to the end (whatever they're called, they reduce the amount of voltage so the Rogue doesn't get fried!), and they tend to get very warm. I would prefer a better one...

Thanks Any advice for which MoogerFooger (or maybe something similar) I should consider? I'm not much of a musician, and I don't know much about the technical aspects of synthesis. I'm what I guess is called a "hobbyist." I like to play out melodies of songs, and sometimes record them. Mostly I just love to get lost making crazy, weird, or ambient stuff. If I had a lot of money and time, I'd buy something more complicated. On that note, no pun intended, I'm thinking about getting a Concertmate MG-1 sometime.
