Automotive paint! Great Idea. Do you know what number paint it is so I can match it properly?

I don't know why people want to charge 300 bucks for the expression pedals. I saw one for 65-75 that was missing the rubber. No one wanted it.

I got the Wurlitzer delivered today. We have had some wintery weather and I don't own a truck to move stuff like this myself. The camera in that first pic i posted did a good job of covering up blemishes. It also took some more damage on the way here...the guy stood it on end and when it got here it had rocked back on some metal. It gouged the rear cabinet and tore the tolex...but this is no big deal. THe main problem is the rot in the cabinet. If anyone has any suggestions as to what I should do about a repair, please pm me.

Man I like that blue Liberation - very nice!

I haven't tried these myself yet, but check out Alsa's "killer cans" for some cool candies and pearls in rattle cans. Seems well suited for something more outlandish on these small refinish jobs:

Not cheap, but candy paint never was IME (house of kolor, ppg, etc.)

It's The Little Mermaid Edition, EricK! Yeah, that thing is going to need some serious work. Some of the caps will need replacing soon, if those pics are anything to go by. Not sure what can be done about the rot, short of rebuilding the cabinet out of MDF or plywood. That's the problem with pressboard. It touches water, it falls apart. From the looks of that piano, it was in standing water at one point.

Yeah Voltor, i saw this thing in there, touched it and it flicked up and about hit me in the face. I looked harder at it and found it quite funny. I had actually thought about you since you brought up that movie in another post recently.

I thought about L-brackets, but what really occurred to me was to see if there is some sort of i beam made of steel that I could use the screwholes from the bottom of the feet, into an upper portion of the inner cabinet to reinforce it.

I'm thinking that this sat in a garage or something somewhere and flooded....maybe even recently since the mold still seems to be alive. I have to neutralize that somehow. I have a few of my friends going to make inquiries about how to reinforce the cabinet. I could just chop it but Id really like to keep it intact.

People know more about the electronics than I do. It looks like they were exposed to the elements a little. What are those dots on that component? I think this unit has had some work done since it has a line out.

But everything else, it just needs regulation and a few reeds are weak but other than that and the rot I still got a great deal. It sounds and plays better than the 200a except in areas where the action is a bit spongy.

Just clad the whole thing in 3/16" steel plate...that should do it. Bleach kills mold, BTW. Spray some bleach on the black areas, and you'll be mold-free.

That component appears to be a capacitor. The white dots could be anything. Fungus, a sign that the cap overheated and caused speckling, debris from sawdust, etc. I'd say it's probably sawdust, seeing as how pretty much every component on that board is covered in it.

Just got my first eurorack module: "MATHS" by Makenoise (it lives us to the name, believe me). Works great with my XL!

You can read about it here, in case you're interested:

hey EricK,

Great lookin' Wurly you got there. I'm working on a deal here to get one of my own!

You may want to check out this product. I've used it several times with really great results. I did the top of my Rhodes with Krylon then sealed it with this automotive clear. It comes in a spray can that you break a seal to mix. just be sure to use it as soon as you mix it.
