The comment was a general one at how things are disproportionately priced compared to other places and was not aimed at Moog, but was a response to a post, so the context is lost here. i apologise if anyone took it the wrong way
Well, that's what got me going since it was the second comment in a thread that's already been done a few times here before.

Maybe if I start a few threads about the Taurus III being overpriced they'll reduce that too?

And you have yet again missed the point. No-one said the shirts, pedals or anything else were overpriced - just the shipping. Moog's products are fairly priced. Only UPS make money on expensive shipping, so it's in Moog's interest to reduce that cost as they don't benefit from high shipping either.

Why stop at shipping?

Seriously though, I do hope they reduce the price of the Taurus III because I really need one.

Moog are you listening?!

Common sense for one.. We care about Moog, not the shipping company. They make money on the products they produce, not shipping them to customers. Shipping of their apparel was obviously high priced, and understandably a sales deterrent for some; by bringing this to Moogs attention, it gives them the opportunity to look into a change that ultimately will not cost them anything, but will benefit their customers and increase sales.

Why do you want Moog to lose money? Do you want them to go under? "Its a niche market that needs to be kept alive at all costs" ;)

The price of the Taurus III is way too high.

Try not having enough money to buy one if you really want to feel ripped off!

I'd first have to try to be even half as dense as you... and well, that's not happening, so.. Keep up the good work buddy, things will turn around for you one of these days.

I was being sarcastic, not sure how you missed that.

I think Moogs prices are fine.

Of course you think the prices are fine, thats been your point this whole thread.. the sarcasm was so thick you could cut it with a knife, and the only person missing the point continually in this thread has been you. I'm not sure how you missed it, though I guess I'm not surprised (refer to my previous post about density)... keep up the good work buddy  :p

Let me interject something here about the shipping costs.

WHen I ordered my module from Mike, it was a 921a, a single width module. It weighs much less than a MoogerFooger, and it may very well weigh 2 pounds. He charged me 15 bucks for shipping. I asked him why this was so much (figuring that after ordering 17 modules at 15 bucks a pop, thats the price of one of his cheaper modules right there, $255) and he replied that the gas for driving to the store, plus the cost of materials and then the actual cost of shipping (because the box's shipping costs DID NOT equal 15 bucks), that is how he factored that in.

WHen I shipped my theremin to Moog, I don't remember how much it weighed, but I think it was 12 dollars UPS to ship.

I really don't think that Moog would charge someone some BS prices just for the sake of doing so.

I had considered when I was at the factory, buying a bunch of shirts and then mailling them to a friend of mine, and I mentioned to him this Idea but we never discussed it again, so I didn't. I don't see where that would really save anyone some money without costing me some (for the packaging and the same reasons Mike Bucki mentioned.)

Now As far as anything else thats keeping them from keeping costs down (like them having bulk packaging material) I can't speak to, but Im sure that if there was a way around this, they would make it so.

Moogmusic already interjected a few posts back-- they now offer a different postage carrier. They weren't charging any 'BS' prices, they were just using the more-expensive carriers that were available to them (ie would pick up the packages and have tracking). Anyway, it seems the jist of the thread has been realized, as Moog looked into it and did what they reasonably could-- all anyone could ask for, and though shipping is not significantly cheaper than before, it's something and says alot about Moog as a company.(though I expected nothing less from them) Good stuff. 8)

I guarantee Moog is eating the lower shipping price here, not the shipping company.

Wow, you're very informed for someone who doesn't work for Moog.

Who was under pressure here to change the shipping price, Moog or the shipping company?
