So they were prepared to let the offer go until mid-Feb, and if they hadn't gotten sufficient by that time would've cancelled the project, I presume. Instead, they received sufficient orders in what, three weeks?

That's about the size of it, HB3. They'll more than likely end up producing MORE than 1,000 units if orders keep up at this pace. It would be bizarre if the Taurus 3's became the new Wii for the 2009 holiday season. But it seems like that's where they're headed.

Hey, Moog, you shouldn't be so cautious about these things. Now get started on that drum set. :)

HB3, don't go taking Moog's attention away from their polysynth. Polysynth first, then sequencer, THEN drumset.

When do you guys think Moog will make some kind of announcement on the website, or emails to those that ordered?

Well, NAMM is but a few weeks away. Maybe we'll hear something then.

Yeah, pretty impressive they make the 250 order goal in less than a month...

I would have thought there would have been at least a little fanfare.

THey will probably take the time to do that after the holidays are all finished. I don't think that Heidi has even processed alot of the orders yet. I don't think my card has been charged yet. SHe told me in an email that she will get to those before the end of the year so I will assume that is when we will get the announcement.

My card was charged on the 16th.

Taurus order

Ordered mine directly from the Moog Music website the day after the offer went up! $1695!! Whoo hoo! (I think.. or was it $1795? Either way... Whoo hoo!) Sold my originals in 1986 for $800. Hope they are still out there, terrifying the neighbors.

BTW, two sets of Taurus 1's are on Ebay for $3995 and $3895 respectively. I had an email dialog with each of the sellers - their opinions were along these lines "they won't be the same" (right, they'll be new and under warranty) and "old equipment is still holding it's value" (sort of - good Mini D's have dropped below $4000 and even under $3000 in some areas.)

As for the "not the same" - forgive my brief off-topic venture into the realm of vintage vs. new - I have a Prophet T8 (OK, I have two) and a Prophet 08. (OK, and a Prophet 10. And a Mellotron M4000 on order from Streetly. And a greyface ARP 2600 with the "stolen" filter, which technically makes it a Moog. Don't hate the playa!)

Soundwise - the T8 and 08 are absolutely IDENTICAL - no difference whatsoever (with some tweaking of the T8) the patches are the same. Not the same instrument by any means, but the shivers are the shame. I expect nothing less from Moog (Voyager OS, Electric Blue, and pending Model D). I have a Roland VK-77 with a PK-5 pedalboard which can put out some pretty awesome sounding bass from the VK-77 - but it's still not a Taurus.

I have a DX7 also, so I do suffer from lapses in judgement.

Love this board and everyone who posts on it.

An object at rest cannot be stopped.

:) Nothing wrong with the DX7, there are a lot of cool useful Non 80's Rhodes sounds in it :) Just takes a little programing :)
