my moogs...

Post by scott » Tue Aug 23, 2005 7:45 pm

at the moment, i have a Rogue, and a MG-1. i've also had a few other moogs over the years- a "CDX" organ(with the MinitMoog built in), a Prodigy, and another one- i'm having trouble remembering what it was called- it was a preset synth,with a few sliders, it had more stuff than the minitmoog, and it was a stand-alone(or organ-top) unit. i've also got a few Sequential Circuits synths- a Prophet-600, a Pro-one, and a Max. i'm playing mostly Hammond organ these days(i have a couple "portabilized" L-100's), i'd like to find or start a project in which i can use the Moogs again- i haven't been playing them lately, and i miss them...

I currently have 3, & plan on getting a Mini or Voyager in the near future and I would like to own a modular some day. The 3 that I have now were all purchsed for less than $200 ea in various states of disrepair.

My first was a MicroMoog, it was completely disassembled in a box when I got it. I cleaned everthing up & put it back together and after some testing found out that the power supply was not working correctly. I rebuilt the power supply and got it working, then I found a NOS ribbon, new keyboard bushings & contacts on Ebay and now its working great.

My second was a Prodigy it was in excellent physical condition but the previous owner told that there a problem with one of the oscillators, I opened it up & found a bad solder joint where the keyboard connects to the board and now its working 100%.

My Third was a Source, was told it wasnt working when I got it. It was the Crazy Source problem, fixed it and now I have 3 working Moogs!

So, this was you, buying "the other" Maple AE. :-) Congrats to yours.

We're a small and exclusive club of Maple AE owners, indeed... I was lucky enough to get the last one sold in Switzerland. So I was told, when I ordered mine the day before Bob Moog left us.

Just brought it home today. It will join my other two Minis. My Moog list:

* Minimoog D #6524
* Minimoog D #8188
* Voyager AE Maple #AE0651

I´m the owner of an early Minimoog (SN T2369E) with Lintronic Midi,
I also got a Voyager AE (SN 262) in black,
Moogerfooger Ring Modulator,
Moogerfooger Analog Delay
and a selfmade routing module for the in´s and out´s of the old Minimoog.
(with original Minimoog switches).

I´d love to get all the Moogerfoogers.

Can anyone explain to me how to put pictures in here?

Moogs are seriously under-represented in my gearlist, but for now I have a Minimoog Voyager SE and a mint Polymoog.

The Polymoog is an early revision in physically mint condition and looks and plays as if it's just rolled off the production line.

i.e. it doesn't work

Last time I tried was when Music Control FX was still in Alsager - James indicated he already had two dead ones he couldn't get to grips with and wasn't ready for a third!

It'd probably break on the journey back anyway!

If I can't find a reliable repairer soon, I may well try and swop it for a Minimug. More chance of getting a sound out of that!

You interested Corky? :wink:

Hi

Ijust bought my first moog. it's a micromoog, when I was going through the manual it says the filter when switched to tone and the oscillator is off, the filter should produce a sine wave tone. I dont hear anything. Is this broken and can I get it fixed? The rest of the stuff works fine, but should I get this fixed and how? I remember one time vaguely hearing that this is a common problem that can't be fixed, I hope I don't have to sell it it really sounds terrific otherwise.

can you help? send me nitrochrome@juno.com

thanks
