What would be a fair price to offer for the CS60? I can have it for next to nowt, but I want to offer a fair price.

You are in the right position if you are offering a price . . these instruments in good condition can go for quite a lot now. I sold my CS50 for £600 and then my CS60 for £1290 but both were in immaculate, as new condition with music rest and legs etc. Also both had been serviced at KSR (RLmusic's restoration company) . . that's quite important as the poly CS range are notorious for "falling over" . . you may get one that needs tuning every 3 months!!! . . my 50 did but the 60 was a lot more stable and only needed tuning once a year.
If I new I was going to do the servicing then I would aim low . .

Blimey!
I'll offer a bit more than the £300 he's expecting then. It's still in its delivery packaging with all accessories, manuals etc..... Whats a CS80 worth these days for heaven's sake!?

That's sounds like a good deal! Don't let him know!
CS-80's in poor condition go for about £1800 - £2200 . . . ones that have had a full service go for about £3k and the rlmusic ones, which has several modifications to the power supply and voice boards go for £4500.
Not too many 80's around now though.

What's happening Mal - why all these sales? Your studio will be gone if you continue at this rate!

No one in their right mind would want to give up this
But life changes . . relationships change . . people move on.
lets just say at the moment i need to be materially light! So this lot has to go . . In a year or so when I'm settled I'll no doubt start the collection up again . . shame that some of these items are the best condition instruments I have ever owned!
I'm keeping the Chroma, the PPG, the Matrix 12 and my Model D and the rest will just pump out of my macs as VST's.
Ho hum.

Mal, would it be possible to have someone look after them for you, or put them in storage, instead of getting rid of them, and aquiring them again after a few years?

Yes, I'm sure there would be a way to keep hold of them but they represent a fare chunk of money . . . which is useful at the moment . . . a chap is coming round today to buy the CS60, Memorymoog and Model D.
Plus, the whole point is to feel liberated . . and not tied to all this stuff.

I've often thought about doing the same myself...... all that cash.... But you have to be resigned that you may never be in a position to buy replacements. With the softsynth option that's available these days that's becoming less of a worry though.
Good luck with the sales Mal! I'd have gone for the Opus3 but as I mentioned, I'm on the trail of that CS60.... and a Fairlight series 1 with revisions!!

When you have a collection like this you can see right through the software stuff for what it is . . emulation at best. I'm fortunate enough to be surrounded with G5's due to my multimedia business so i only have to invest in the VSTi software.
Chap bought my minimoog model D and Korg 700 today . . . a little sad about that but he didn't take the memorymoog, so I might hold on to that. Still in negotiations about the CS60.

Blimey... I thought you were holding on to the Model D and ditching the V'ger.
The 700 was a sweet little synth. was it the single or the twin osc 's' version?

I thought you were holding on to the Model D and ditching the V'ger.
So did i but the investment in the Vger was just to great to lose money on. With the model D , I actually made some money on it . . although i will never see or hear another one like it, with it's RMS mods and LAM MIDI. Yesterday I spent some of the day playing the 2 side by side and I could not get the Vger to sound half as good . . but that's down to the RMS mod on the MIXER which puts a very musical soft distortion on the OSCillators before they get to the filter. I'll have to keep an eyeout for some cheap distortion outboard for the Vger.
I had the 700, the single Osc model . . the 700s being the one with the extra Osc and ring mod . . lovely little synth - very sweet organic sound.

yes thats a beatiful piece.
not meaning to put you down, but i am think i would have preferred it unmodded.
i have had some serious thoughts about putting a jack for PWM on my ms20 or an insert jack in the feedback loop of my 201 to modulate the signal inbetween echoes but i dont have the heart to touch them.
anyway, hope you dont come to regret your selling them

i have owned about 5 Minis over the last 18 years . . this was the only one with a mod . . and it sounded the best (even better then the RA one I used to have). I'm not such a purist . . all my kit is in excellent condition and I do a fare amount of restoration work myself but it has to be down to the sound in the end.
This will be the second time I have sold everything . . . not that bothered . . I may end up in the States in a year or so's time so it will easier . . and cheaper to start again.
