Interesting.... It seems to make a wide variety of sounds.

I just got some feedback from an Omega 8 owner. He said it's the best synth he's ever had, and nothing can come close to it. Of course, it's his opinion, but he was going to sell then realized nothing could compare to it. The price is just too out of range for me.... I would have to almost sell everything, then I would have maybe two modules! Looks like I will have to rely on the Nord Lead 2x for now. Can anyone suggest an analog type of box or filter that I could run the Nord Lead 2x through to make it sound either warmer or to make it sounded different if it's necessary? I'm not saying anyone is wrong with the sound, it's just that maybe changing the filter sound every once and a while will give me some more options.

Reminds me of the old Moog modular. Is the Omega 8 analog or digital? So hard to tell over the internets. The series of tubes makes everything sound digital. Except Chuck Norris' synths.

It's analog.

And expensive, too! Geez, it costs as much as a Moog Modular!

Yeah those Modular synths cost as much as they always did. THe Buchla 200 still costs about 30K as does a brand new System 55 from Modusonics.

Easy, MF 101 or you can run it through the Voyager.

So, you think the MF 101 will make a noticeable difference in the sound? Just trying to "warm it up" a bit and also have some options for additional filtering if necessary.

It's one way, there are other filters out there that will give you more options tjhough (High pass, Low Pass, Band Pass) but the MF 101 is a nice filter to have laying around. You could also try some mild Chorus and reverb on it .

Can you suggest another filter with the options you mentioned?

I see that Studio Electronics has one with high pass, low pass, and band pass options.

That looks like a nice filter. I wonder how much it is, though.

This is an electro harmonix Bi Filter. Its a dual multimode filter. Probably retails around 500 or so.

Lots of good suggestions but if you want a modern poly analogue I still think that you are down to 3 main choices (how did the PolyEvolver sound to you)? The Omega8 is one fantastic synth, with the present state of the economy you may just luck out and find one used in the $2500 range. The A6 and P08 are great synths as well both capable of excellent pads, leads and basses. For strings though I opt to layer the 2 JD-990's (Vintage and Sounds of the 60/70's cards installed) with the JD-800 and a Kurzweil 2500r.
