KOMEDA
My vote for the most underrated "Post Punk Ambient Dream Pop" band of all time goes to a Swedish group called Komeda. With an awesome fat moog sound, one of the hottest female singers Ive ever heard belting out some incredibly catchy well crafted tunes this band may have peaked between late eighties and early nineties. Listen to these for starters, selected form 3 different disks.

(trivia- David Foster (Canadian Record Producer ) is listed as a studio musician playing keyboards on Gary Wright's Dream weaver )

i love the simplistic moog on beck's "cold brains"

and i know he built most of his own synths but i'd swear i heard some moogs on bruce haack's "electric lucifer"

I think the keyboardist was/is named Mark Kelly. Some of my favorite Marillion synth solos were on Grendel, Garden Party, She Chameleon, and Fugazi. I really haven't followed the band since Fish left. (But that topic is for another time and another forum.)

I would probably choose Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze and Erasure's Vince Clarke.

Jarre doesn't like Moogs a lot (he would rather use ARP 2600s) neither Vangelis does (he would use a Yamaha CS 80).

come on, no one can make music sound so warm and imaginative like PINK FLOYD! no doubt that when rick wright decided to use the minimoog on the darkside tour (as seen on "Inside Out" the personal history of pinkfloyd by nick mason) he changed music for ever!!! nowdays, we still havent got as far as he did 30 years ago in terms of innovation...
and we still try!!!

Rick used several mini's on tour! I've seen a picture with at least 5 mini's in the setup!!! This was when there were no patch banks.

But yeah, he's the man!

o wat. nobody has mentioned the whirlwind heat. theyre a great band from detroit. a moog, bass, drums=great beats. dang. just wish they would do a tour in southern california. ayyyy

Spocks Beard, Transatlantic and Neal Morse solo albums.

Neal Morse was in both bands before going christian/praise.
He continues to do some fine modern day prog that is heavily
influenced by 70's era bands,but still sounding freash and
original all the time. Check out his albums "Testimony" and "One"
really good stuff worth diving into musically even if you are'nt
into the christian/praise thing. He has some really great
minimoog solos all over the place.

Ryo Okumoto of Spocks Beard does some amazing work and
has used a minimoog live and in the studio. Their latest
release "Octane" really rocks. Anyone who's seen any of
the beard's videos,or the band live knows he's quite a
hysterically funny guy who likes to have fun on stage.
He's always looking to integrate older technology into their
music and makign it sound new and inventive.

My fave has got to be Rush; those huge synth sounds from back in the day were captivating. I have always enjoyed the recorded synth tones on Pink Foyd's Wish You Were Here, and Dark Side of the Moon, and had mentally attributed them to Moog... Of course Yes and ELP as well. Mostly progressive rock stuff.

I'd definitely have to agree with one of the previous posts...

Rush, Spock's Beard, Transatlantic, and ...erm... well, obviously ELP, but they don't even really need to be mentioned. I'd also have to throw in the Police for their tasty use of Taurus pedals. Although they used Sequential Circuits for most everything else....

...well, heck, in that case, I would have to include the Beatles too, because it doesn't get much tastier than their moog work on Abbey Road.

(I had to edit this to include something... I love Neal Morse's playing; Ryo is definitely a more talented musician, but Neal just had this great signature style to all his SB moog parts- they were just edible.)

I am not sure if TOMITA is a band, but I think he is great(The album "Bermuda Triangle" is great). I also like these "bands":
Wendy Carlos(I have everything by Wendy, and I love most of it)
Vangelis(I have everything by Vangelis except "Sex Power"...and I like 70 percent...I LOVE "Opera Sausage")
Jean Michael Jarre(I have everything by JMJ and I love 80 percent)
Kraftwerk...what can you say about kraftwerk?
Tangerine Dream(I have everything by Tangerine Dream and I wish I did not...Goblins Club...YUCK!)
