I Vote for I, Synthesist!
This message represents my vote for the band I, Synthesist to open at Moogfest.
thanks
I have to thank whoever chose I synthesist and frank lucas , i haven't laughed out loud so hard in years. Can somebody please wake them up and tell them this is 2006.... i guess they never heard the old saying " less is more" what a wank fest ... god help us , you know its people like this that give synthesizers a bad name, they should be banned from playing moogs.
It's about the live show, guys...
Reminder to anyone who's voting solely on the basis of the Sonicbids samples:
Don't forget that these votes are for a LIVE act...not just tracks played through a PA speaker. While all of the featured music may have certain strengths, people at Moogfest are also looking to be entertained.
A live Spiraling show is guaranteed to do that. They'll surely rock the house. And when Tom Brislin starts tearing up the keys, he'll make Dr. Bob proud.
(P.S. If you don't know who Dr. Bob is, what are you doing here???)

I, Synthesist
I, Synthesist is Chris Ianuzzi, an accomplished composer and performer with roots in NYC's downtown scene of the new wave era (he performed with Man Parrish, an electro pioneer). He is making some very up-to-the-minute electropop these days. And his live shows, which feature great musicianship, cool use of technology, and stunning video projections, are spectacular.
He may not be as well-known (yet) as these other acts, but he is definitely deserving of support! He would be a fantastic opener for Moogfest!

Yikes....
This is outta hand..
I think that it is VERY unfair for the artists to have the outcome based on an internet forum's poll. Things like this can be easily sabotaged and thats not fair.
I would have been pulling my hair out if they put us through this kinda of suspense last year.. Essentially 3 winners were picked and I think they should ALL play..
You have to either announce one winner, or pick em all. Its the old " You have to bring enough for the whole class" theory .... The whole class needs a slice of Moogfest now, its only fair..
If WE, The VPOs - were subject to a voting poll last year, I can almost guarantee we wouldn't have won.. My life would be mucho differente ...
I love Moog Music Inc. and have much respect for Mr. Carlini. Moog Music especially, has given us so many awesome perks from the day we won and have always treated us as part of the family .
But on behalf of the real members/musicians of this forum and community I say : THIS POLL IS NOT FAIR ...

Moog is Tom's life

Tom definitely personifies the Moog dream. Spiraling more than deserves to be a part of this special event!
Open up any issue of Keyboard magazine from the last few years. Spiraling’s keyboardist, Tom Brislin (who has also performed with Yes), is one of the magazine's editors. In fact, he provides their sheet music transcriptions almost every month, wrote their reviews of the Voyager Rack and the new Little Phatty (among many others), and was one of the personal contributors to the Bob Moog tribute last fall.I still think a band opening for Moogfest should have a MUCH greater Moog presence and appreciation. I mean, come on... Moogfest shouldn't be "I use a Moog product," but rather "MOOG IS MY LIFE."

Re: Moog is Tom's life
I subscribed to Keyboard two years ago and let my subscription lapse... as I am a keyboard player and analog synthesizer enthusiast, and Keyboard is increasingly an advertisement for the latest software, or keyboard device running software... coupled with articles about which software is best at pretending to be a keyboard.moogyphat wrote:Open up any issue of Keyboard magazine from the last few years. That being said, I really liked what I heard of Spiraling, and voted for them.
My point is, however, that while these bands USE Moogs, they don't seem to be ABOUT Moogs, and perhaps I'm being too picky, but I think a band featured at Moogfest should be ABOUT Moogs. And perhaps not just the ones hot off the shelf.
And maybe i'm just complaining because the means of submission was too limited.
