This is indeed normal, at least for now. The deal is, the sequencer in step-edit mode needs at least two LED brightness levels, maybe three. There's "step is active but not playing" (dim) and "step is playing" (bright). If the "bright" LED level follows the overall panel brightness, then when you turn down the overall LED brightness it becomes increasingly hard to see which step is playing on the sequencer, because you can't tell the active step from the merely-on-but-not-active.paul_sub37 wrote:Yep, same on minemilwel traamen wrote:The arpegiator led doesn't dim. So for now, when in step edit mode the bright LED that indicates the currently-playing step is always a fixed brightness even when you turn down the overall panel LED brightness. I tried it the other way first and it didn't work well.

In the arpergiator section the swing slider doesnt show a percentage. Is it possible to show the percentage?
And by the way thanks for the answer about the led dimming Amos and Paul!

The blinking arp/seq rate led remains bright regardless of the setting too (that's the one I thought milwel was referring to) - what you said about the step edit mode led makes sense. So for now, when in step edit mode the bright LED that indicates the currently-playing step is always a fixed brightness even when you turn down the overall panel LED brightness. I tried it the other way first and it didn't work well

Ah, I misunderstood. Yes the Arp Rate LED also is at maximum brightness... I may not be able to change this; it depends on the LED hardware. Possibly that LED is not under PWM control (which is what allows for multiple levels of brightness). Thanks for mentioning it though; I'll look into it...paul_sub37 wrote:The blinking arp/seq rate led remains bright regardless of the setting tooSo for now, when in step edit mode the bright LED that indicates the currently-playing step is always a fixed brightness even when you turn down the overall panel LED brightness. Speaking of automation and the editor.. I have a question.paul_sub37 wrote:It's a very sweet setup, having access to all of ableton's automation tools to control the 37 as if it were a vst instrument - but with that amazing sound that only a real analog synth can give.
Turning a knob on a digital vst jumps in value, whereas turning a knob on an analog synth has a fluent sound/motion. So when automating a Sub 37 parameter in the editor, would the automation be fluent or jumping in digital value?
like would automating the cutoff sound smooth or jumping in small intervals?

Re: Sub 37 pre-release Editor 0.9.25 + firmware version 1.1.
If the resolution is high enough, it shouldn't sound jumpy. The Sub 37 supports 14-bit MIDI. According to the Sub 37 1.1.0 manual (page 53) the FILTER CUTOFF value range is 0-127 in 7-bit and 0-16383 in 14-bit mode. I'd say 16384 steps should certainly allow for smooth filter sweeps without problems. Just give it a try!

I try some day ago also for my off line computer to download this packages with my on line computer. Got the updater. Move it to my off line computer and the message was. Need Internet connection.Luigi2000 wrote:Running win7 without internet connection and cant get the driver to work . Then I try to find an other way, but nothing found... After 1 hour I gave up. But would be nice when someone has a solution.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Sub 37 pre-release Editor 0.9.25 + firmware version 1.1.
I get an issue with mod bus pitch/filter knob value tracking post panel init - OS X 10.11 + editor 0.9.26 + fw 1.1.13
When doing an init in panel, pressing preset them panel again to get an init with hardware matched knobs, if the mod pitch/filter knobs are subsequently centred, they are always out by quite some margin if the editor is connected - but it's fine if the editor is not connected.
All knob movement are on the sub 37 itself.
To replicate:
editor connected to sub 37
In PRESET mode - turn all mod1/mod2 pitch and filter to non-centred values (I've gone for -5 pitch and +5 filter for both mod busses)
PANEL > INIT > PRESET > PANEL
turn all knobs back to centre indent
left to right I get the following midi values as per the editor 12513 - 4128 - 12255 - 4128 - and the sound from the sub 37 confirms these are not centred on the hardware. I get the exact same values each time if I use the -5 and +5 - values closer to centred produce less discrepancy.
turning the pitch knobs fully right then back to center indent shows 8256 (interestingly, not the true mid of 8192)
repeating the above with the editor not connected, the sound from the sub 37 does not show any signs of pitch/filter modulation when the knobs are centred after the init
connecting the editor shows all 4 knobs as being 8192 ie the true midpoint
added: it's not just those knobs, it seems to be pretty much all of the knobs go out of whack after doing the "panel init > preset > panel" thing if the sub 37 is connected to the editor.

I have issue with the FILTER CUTOFF knob aswell when the Editor is open (in logic or standalone) and i turn the FILTER CUTOFF knob just a little the knob in the editor starts moving around like a spasstic and keeps wiggeling around untill i either turn it to full or none on the Synth! (its impossible to turn it in the software while this is happening also and there is no sound at all) can work around it by mapping another knob to filter cutoff in the Editor and not use the Knob on the synth at all but i guess that isnt optimal!
Beside that im loving it all the way!

A little problem what I found
alt (option) + click sets knobs to default position (per init preset) Is not working for mod1/pitch AMT. Also not centered.

Following Amos's advice, I set the knob mode to absolute instead of relative and the knobs are back in sync for me again, so might be worth checking that with your issue too.Sofasizer wrote:I have issue with the FILTER CUTOFF knob aswell when the Editor is open

mine was set to Absolute already, its only the filter cutoff thats making problems the rest works!paul_sub37 wrote:Following Amos's advice, I set the knob mode to absolute instead of relative and the knobs are back in sync for me again, so might be worth checking that with your issue too.Sofasizer wrote:I have issue with the FILTER CUTOFF knob aswell when the Editor is open
