This new Moog looks nice. I agree with Alien, though, that this "Sub Phatty" name sounds "substandard." Maybe it's meant to invoke the concept of sub-bass, but there are better ways of doing that if that is their goal. But, as long as the synth itself sounds good, then that's fine by me. At this point I am with Muksys... I'm not all that impressed by the new synth at this point.

I'm guessing that "Sub" is for the sub oscillator. Has any previous Moog ever had a sub oscillator?

^ hey if all it ends up being is a supped up version of a micromoog with midi/usb I'd find it super nifty!

It already has the Micro's 1 osc beat, so all it needs now is wood laminate side panels.

25 keys? WHY?? come on, at least give us 3 octaves. Or, perhaps a desktop version later on with all the knobs, one you can play with a real keyboard... What is this new trend of 2 octave keyboards all about? I have a Novation midi controller with 25 keys, and though it's an excellent controller, I find myself NEVER using it because of the limited keyboard. 2 octaves means serious limitation.

Hopefully they'll at least make the octave buttons accessible like the Phatty, and not a three step process like the Voyager. ha

I think the idea is that if you're not a serious keyboardist, 25 keys is enough.
If you are a serious keyboardist, you would also have a master keyboard that's much larger.

I spend alot of time on Muffwiggler and there is a fair amount of Moog haters over there.

I have a funny feeling that after seeing that pic (which is beautiful), there are going to be a large number of them quieting down and getting in line to buy one (if the price is reasonable that is).

Certainly is a looker and the Euro crowd will find it aesthetically fitting in quite well with their other gear.

I have a 2 octave Novation controller that I have mounted just to the left of my Old School. Sometimes I use it to drive my Minintaur, sometimes, I play a soft synth through it or other rack mount modules when I'm just 'doodling'. Point is that many will find it easy to squeeze 2 octaves into their rig so that is more of a selling point than a detractor and Moog won't have many selling their LPs to buy this. Smart work all around.

I certainly wouldn't be selling my Phatty, but though I didn't bite on the Minitaur, I sure will buy this new one, 25 keys and all.
