I did say next best thing...haha.
Actually, having heard the Strymon El Capistan up close, since my last comment, I think that it's even better than the RE-20. It comes closer to the subtleties of a tape machine with adjustments like, virtual tape bias, tape crinkle, demagnetized tapes, wow and flutter of worn mechanical parts, and so on... But not equal, and certainly not better than a real tape echo.

Yeah that thing is pretty cool. one thing though that delay pedals analog or digital can't really emulate is the head bump, which is a low frequency boost due to the buildup of flux around heads. But its not just a boost, it has a distinctive almost ghostly timbre to it that is exaggerated by the feedback, which is a large part of the tape echo sound.

Thanks! Yes Sir, solid quilted maple wings, with a 3-piece maple neck that runs through the body. It absolutely nails the Queensryche/ Alice in Chains bass tones, and even though it weighs almost 10 lbs, it is extremely well balanced & comfortable to play for an entire 4-set gig.
Also, it has a bottom end that rivals my Taurus 3...

haha! it's a fun little thing, with plenty sonic character, more than I was expecting! nada compared to my Voyager, but it doesn't sound or feel like it's trying to compete with the Moog sound, unless we're talking Rogue, then I can hear some similarities, more MS10 though than anything, in my opinion- the triangle and square are ok, but I keep going back to the sawtooth, withOUT the "supersaw"; that, to me just makes it sound more like a DCO and less like a vintage analog- It gets its true test tomorrow when I use it for a Noseriders show!

Good luck with that, should be quite a bit of fun. Forgot to mention how much I enjoyed the last video you posted a link to, "All Here". Watched that a few times. Well done! I can imagine seeing that vid on MTV back in the early 80's when they actually aired cool videos.
I pre-ordered a Minibrute way back in January from Musiciand Friend. Arrived last week. Couldn't pass on the discount of $425 with free shipping and no tax. You get a whole lot of bang for the buck here. Not only is it a great sounding fully analog synth, but it doubles as an interface to any modular with audio in/out, and full CV in/outs, plus can be used as a MIDI to CV over a wide range. Plays really well with modular gear with that arpeggiator via the CV pitch and gate out. I'll have to hook it up to the Moog modular to really test it out. All I need now is a table top modular to go with this table top synth.

Just got a Jule Amps Monique bass preamp, rackmount version. The design is based on 6SN7 tubes, transformer driven outputs, and a tube rectifier. It's a piece of electronic art inside. It sounds lovely for electric bass as well as the Taurus III!
