When I first started spouting off about my well connected friend?Voltor07 wrote:Uh huh. I e-mailed Amos when you first started spouting off about your friend who is well-connected talking about a polysynth being developed by Moog. Amos said that there IS NO polysynth in the works. They aren't even in a planning stage, and the closest thing to a prototype they have is a sketch on a napkin.DIGITAL SCREAMS wrote:
Sorry, but your wrong. Moog are currently designing a polysynth and some big named artists are providing input on its design. Sure, the current economic crisis will delay its ultimate release....but I know they are investing R&D on the circuit design.
Expect a release within 3-5 yrs. Thats not a million miles away....gives you time to save up.
Why dont you phone up Amos at Moog and ask him - he'll tell you.
Thanks
DS
You sound pissed to me

I guess we're hearing too different stories then - I spoke to Amos on the phone and kept asking direct questions - its probably easier to fob someone off via email....
I can't imagine somebody travelling 6000 miles to discuss drawings on a napkin after a NAMM show.....can you?
Lets agree to disagree - Im sure we will both be happy when it materialises....

Not pissed. You'd be reading a whole different post if I was. But I will agree to disagree on this point, and yes...we can both agree that a polysynth from Moog will be awesome.DIGITAL SCREAMS wrote:/snip/I guess we're hearing too different stories then - I spoke to Amos on the phone and kept asking direct questions - its probably easier to fob someone off via email....

How about... the Memorymoog Voyager?
I think eight voices would be fine.. at least it keeps it in line with the DSI stuff.
I think they could save on the interface by borrowing a page from the panel design of the Little Phatty. I have both it and a Voyager RME, and I have no problem getting around on the Phatty. Also, if it were 5 octaves, they'd have more room for a few more controls... they could split the difference between the Phatty and the Voyager in terms of layout maybe.

Just had to point out the obvious... CZ Rider has the best rig I've ever seen.... CZ, do you have a website with studio photos???CZ Rider wrote:Doesn't the Voyager qualify as the new polyphonic Moog?
While it is not the most affordable or perfect solution, the Voyager is capable of MIDI chaining as many as 16 voices together. After all, the CS-80 back in 1978 was more than 5 grand. In today's money that's something like 15 grand, but that's what is cost to get that sound. It seems today, there is a desire for a vintage sounding polysynth, but no one is willing to pay what a machine like this would cost ?
A three voice Voyager plus mono Moog bass! (Sounds huge!)

I think id have only 1 request for a polymoog....that it is sturdy enough to hold a Voyager's 4 feet on it with nothing hanging of the end.
Put it on a 4 legged stand and build a 21st century Moog Constellation.

Don't forget the smaller indent in the larger one for a Little Phatty.EricK wrote:I think id have only 1 request for a polymoog....that it is sturdy enough to hold a Voyager's 4 feet on it with nothing hanging of the end.

As much as that name runs shivers down my spine, I agree about the poly layout being set up like the LP.gtivr6fan wrote:Should be the "Big Phatty". They could run one hell of an ad campaign with that name. Possibly be a little easier on the pocketbook than using a voyager type platform.
Honestly I think an expansion module would be nice bridge in the gap but i doubt that will ever materialize....DSI dropped their PolyEvolver Rack unit.
