You can adjust the CV scale on each channel independently, to get all your stuff playing in tune... does true 14-bit pitch bend which you can set from 1-12 semitones... and it uses the CV scale per channel so all pitch bends will be in tune with each other, even across multiple VCOs that are not calibrated to each other! So, you can play an MF-102 and MF-107 oscillator via CV from a MIDI keyboard at the same time, and have them track each other, even pitch bend them both in unison! That is the idea, anyway...

I was thinking along those lines for quite a while and that's the kind of thing I was waiting to read. If read you correctly, the MP201 can thus be used as a midi-to-CV unit for the OS (with Pitch, Gate and mod wheel)? How about the fourth CV for mod bus 1 ?

The emphasis on the product so far has been as a multiple expression pedal capable of CV output, but for mainly moogerfoogers, and with some midi programing features. And this is a product in itself.

But since this thing has everything hardware and software it needs, even if it was not the initial goal of the product, it can/could also serve as a complete midi-to-CV (Moog brand) solution for vintage synths and OS. Quite an original idea to put a midi-CD circuits directly in a box with 4 expression units at the touch of a switch.

Now that would be a sizzling hot pedal. I'll take two. (and drop the Kenton or PAiA ?) ;)

I also added an envelope generator :)

So I think this is now in a class beyond the Kenton...

You can have 1 pitch-CV, one Gate, a Mod Wheel CV if you like, plus a freely-routable extra CV envelope...

Or all the CV to power a standard monosynth: Pitch, Gate, Filter envelope and Volume envelope! Just add your own VCO and VCF. I haven't tried it yet but I think you could build a minimalist monosynth using only the MP201, a FreqBox and MF-101 lowpass! I'll have to work out the details.

Certainly it is now easy to add a perfectly-tracking third (or fourth) VCO to your Little Phatty or Voyager, or a pitch-perfect tracking ring modulator (with modulation envelope)... The possibilities are pretty extreme.

I need to get an MP-201. It sounds like you are really pushing it forward.

You added an envelope generator? I really wish the MF-101 had an envelope in jack but it looks like I'll have to pick my second Fooger to really perfect my bass synth rig. That is a very cool feature.

This is very nice. Very nice, indeed. I will never have time to explore all the possibilities before I die....

But essentially, with this MIDI controlled Pitch CV I could definitely make a decent monosynth from the MF-107, MF-101, MF-103, MIDI MuRF, and two MF -102 'foogers in my rig....one space left in my rig...for the delay - ay -ay -ay-ay -y -y -

Thanks Amos. What an excellent investment I have made in Moog.

This is really cool :D but i have my doubts in how to implement it... as i understand the pitch cv tracks the midi note that the MP is outputing, or it can track the note from an external synth?? i kinda confused here...

This update is going to turn the MP in a monster hope we can get it soon!!

It seems to me Amos is saying that it will convert and externally received MIDI note command and convert it to a Pitch CV and output that.

This MIDI to CV accepts MIDI notes IN to the MP201 from any MIDI keyboard, and puts out a 1V/Octave CV corresponding to your MIDI note.
So you can take any MIDI synth (or software synth, using MIDI output from your sequencer), and run the audio through the ring mod... scale the CV so that the ring mod is tracking pitch-CV correctly... then whatever MIDI note you play on the synth, the ring mod will track the notes correctly, changing by the same number of semitones.

Awesome...Now, could you also use the carrier on the ring mod (or the VCO in the Freq Box) as a VCO and scale it so that it tracks 7 semitones above what you are playing on the Voyager (if you have the 351) and then further if have your Voyager hooked up to another Voyager or Little Phatty (Duophonically) and basically get a three voiced synth, able to major and minor chords?

Would that work or is that a pipe dream?

Yes, all that would work. And you would not need the VX-351; you can transpose the root note of the MIDI to CV conversion on the MP201 to any note you like. So just set the root note on the MP201 down a 5th or 7th, and the CV will be transposed up by the same amount.

you could control extra oscillators (like the MF102 or MF107) and modulate between major and minor chord voicings easily, just by changing the "root note" on the MIDI-CV channels and saving multiple presets. Then you can step back and forth between the presets using the foot switches, or by sending MIDI program changes (e.g. from your sequencer or your synth).

You're being all fiendishly clever, Amos. Are there any mad scientists in your family?

I, for one, am very happy that Moog employs Amos. I like to see smart people do cool things.

Is this an ADSR envelope? how does it work, please give us some details... i really can't wait to have this update, it's like the MP is going to turn into a totally different thing.... and for good :D
