Anyone know of any synthesizer repairmen in or around Lubbock, TX?

I own an MG-1 and no matter how I set the controls, I seem to only be able to get the generic keyboard organ sound. I can always hear more than one note at a time , even if the polyphony is at 0. The whole contour section doesn't affect the sound at all. When sync is "out," I get a constant sound that's really annoying. Auto contour trigger does nothing that I've found so far. Anyone know of any suggestions?

Here is one diagnosis I received:

"Hmmm...it *could* be the envelope generator or keyboard circuitry, and then there's something weird with the polyphony because it won't be quiet. The problems may be related (a short), or they may not be. But this is only a guess. It sounds like your oscillators are working (at least one of them anyway) and the filter works."

Hi Asian Inv...

If you haven't already opened the MG1 up completely You should, even if you are not a tech- what you have to do is fairly simple. Yet very time consuming AND a major pain in the ass, but it must be done !!!

Pay attention to screw locations when opening it up.. There are only 3 or 4 types of screws,.. Get a piece of paper to lay the screws on and label where they came from. Get a red or black sharpie pen and label all the connectors and their corresponding connections. They are all labeled already, yet its best to do your own labeling/marking for less confusion. For instance : on the MG1 power supply wire 1 goes to connector 5, wire 2 - connecting 6. wire 3 - connection 7 etc etc... relabeling the 5 to 1 so everything has the same number code or symbol.. Make it easy for your self..

NOW, get a bottle of rubbing alcohol, lots of NEW razor blades, maybe even a bottle of the stuff you buy at the head shop to clean your bong with, will do... When you get the main board out (the one with all the sliders) clean every last piece of gunk.. Tighten every screw really good and make sure you reconnect everything correctly.. I would suggest replacing all the sliders with TecnoTransplant's MG1 restoration kit.. You can buy just new sliders, switches or caps or buy them all in one package. search ebay for MG1 ...

I bet if you clean it all out and replace all the sliders, it will work beutifully..

P.S.. Some models of MG1 require different slider types. So you will notice that the package comes with two extra sliders. You have to figure out which one is appropriate on your particular MG1.. Trial and error for me. I got one right the first time but had to reopen it to fix the glide slider.. I believe the two parameters in question are "Glide" and " Bell Tone"... Could be wrong on the latter..

Anyway, after doing the slider replacement and doing a bi annual open up and tighening down, My MG1 is GREATTT !

OH MY GOD!
It took me alomst 20 hours to get all the black goo out of there. Well also, my moog was shipped in chunks of broken up styrofoam so there were little bits of that mixed in with the black goo!
I think I used up almost an entire box of qtips.

Funny. My concertmate, purchased 10ish years ago from the original owner, has not had the dreaded foam issue. Then again he put a 1/4 inch jack in it and may have cleaned that out years ago. My opus was another story. So gross.

Anyone have any patch samples other than the ones in the original manual? Just wondering what sorts of sounds folks have come up with.
