The interface was good, and I liked the led's, but it just felt and sounded cheap to me. Cheap plastic keys, weighs about 10 pounds. The overall sound had a distinct nord nasally thin quality. Had a kind of digital undertone hiding in all the patches. Definitely not to my liking. Maybe the later ones made sound better?

Care to tell us what you didn't like about it?

I could introduce you to a small army of musicians who'd disagree.

Pelican - the question on this thread is: what VA blends best with Voyager.

Now to my mind, I'd say something that has a different sound to the Voyager and will have its own place in a mix.

I'd say something with more of a *cold* digital edge makes a good companion for the Voyager.

I've had most of the well known VAs through my hands and NL3 is definitely my personal pick of the bunch. Haven't tried the Virus TI yet though (although have owned earlier versions and use Powercore Virus).

When you *want* "harsh" though, that's a *good* thing...

Boeing,

You can get a Nord Lead 1 for about $350. There are enhancements on the newer models, but an expanded Nord Lead 1 is soundwise very similar to the 2, 2x, and 3. I'm sure you have an effects processor already so you may want to think about it. They can make some great sounds, but like most synths they can't sound good at everything.

I love my DSI Polyevolver. It has that "Prophet" sound which works very well with the Voyager. It depends on what you like.

I have a choice between the Nord Lead 2 and PolyEvolver Keyboard. I really need to try out both, and see which one suits my needs.

Boeing,

The Polyevolver is going to stomp the Nord into the ground. The Nord is a nice synth, but can't hold a candle to the PE. It will depend on the sound you like, but owning both of them, the PE and the Voyager are the only 2 I can't live without.

I already have a Prophet-5 though. I wish there were music shops round here that would let you play one.
