I'm happy there won't be a pathetic screen with presets,it also keeps the price down.If you want that sort of feature,get a soft synth.,what the What hell is a "fanboy"?

Good for you. Really. I'm not being sarcastic. Promise.
But it prevents me from buying it. Unfortunately, because I think I really would love it with a patch memory.

A fanboy is someone who is 100% loyal and 200% enthusiastic about everything that a manufacturer does or puts out on the market. No critical mind, no analysing, always defending it from what have a slightest chance to be interpreted as criticism. Apple fanboys are often called iTards. I am not a fanboy. btw Assar, for what it's worth, Cyril did mention at NAMM that there will be a dedicated editor for storing presets.

I certainly am not a fan boy.There are things about my synth that I don't like,but I for the most part do like it.
And I'm still waiting for my sticker dammit!-see,there you go,look at my insolence directed at Moog.I'm loyal to no one, except my girlfriend and breaking bad.

Sounds good. It will propably work well for studio situations but less good live.

Yeah, if you don't use a laptop already live, would be silly to incorporate one for just the Minitaur.

Some people HAVE TO have laptops as part of their rig. Depend on it. Some can't stand it.

Nice thing about the Minitaur is that it has conventional DIN Midi in so you don't need it. Less and less of the devices out there are doing that and there is no low cost way to connect a type B USB to a conventional Midi DIN keyboard. Despite the real estate required for the DIN and the somewhat antiquated (slow) nature of conventional protocal I'm really really glad Moog went this way while providing USB also. Very smart.

I wonder if it would be possible to implement the Minitaur's note-sync feature into the Phattys?

That is (for me) the biggest problem about Phatty!

I think Moog was thinking about how people work with DAWs these days. The Minitaur editor is a VST so the DAW project saves your patches for you rather than memory in the synth.

It does mean there are no presets in traditional MIDI applications, though.

Note sync is extremely important in the type of music I make. The different clicks and transient content I get from my Slim Phatty, means a slight pain of selecting the "good" notes in a bassline riff that extends for more than 2 bars.

Even if they sort that out on the SP, I do feel that the saw and square VCO output is quite different to the SP ones.

I do think that it is quite expensive for what it is, but it sounds so damn good that I have to have one.

I am delighted with my SP, MF-102 and MF-108M. They all ooze quality with every tweak.
I am no Moog fanboy, but I am quickly becoming one and have no problem admitting it
