Why thank you, I don't believe I've ever heard someone call music "unexpected" and I take it as a compliment! :3

Hey flippo, I'm digging that 'drones and piano' piece; I think the clipping gives it a bit of character!

Hey all,

We (Adirondac) have posted our first "official" single off of your upcoming EP. There is a lot of LP throughout filling the gaps. I was able to get some Minitaur in the intro as well as at the end to "beef" it up. Also there is a small bit of Juno-60 in there somewhere as well as a Mutable Instruments Shruthi-1 in the intro. Hope you digs!

New song, unfinished, but this time I added vocals into the mix (longtime friend and writing partner Nathan Holte). It's still a rough mix and I want to change the ending up a bit, but I don't imagine it will change drastically. Mostly Little Phatty, with a little bit of Casiotone for the organ and strings. Let me know what you think!

P.S. Muksys: I love the new track. That Minitaur sounds absolutely gut-wrenching!
Also, I posted your band's single to Facebook. Incredible stuff, man.

Very nice stuff! Home recorded? Sounds great (although the home recordest boom has put studios like I worked at out in the street:P)

Thanks for the props and the fb share! I'll spread your word too.

btw, I absolutely love Duluth. I have been there several times (and Grand Marais once) for work. We plan to visit there for a vacation some day. Love Fitger's and Carmody's .

Thank you, yes it is a home recording. The "studio" really isn't anything spectacular, just an M-Audio Fast Track Pro and a Blue Snowball USB mic going into a laptop running FL Studio. It works perfectly well though, so I most likely won't be upgrading anytime soon. I am planning on doing a studio record with a friend of mine in Minneapolis who owns a studio there. I consider the recordings I do at home to be "demos"; a point of reference for what I intend to create in a studio setting, with additional musicians and the like.

Duluth is amazing, and my biggest artistic influence. Being able to walk for ten minutes and find myself standing at the shores of Lake Superior is pure magic, and I don't think anything will ever inspire creativity the way the lake does for me. I want to travel and see the world, but Duluth will always be home to me. :D

This song has been made unavailable, in light of an EP I have released only a couple of days ago.
It was recorded entirely using a Little Phatty and a Casiotone 405, with the exception of a bass guitar track on "In Memoriam", and the closing track "Take Care, Turnip Head" was recorded on an old piano in a church basement.

I hope you like it.

I got a new track up! A nice indie dance song featuring vocals from Miranda Rae... Check it out! I would really appreciate feedback... Good, bad, whatever, anything to make my music better.

I've made heavy use of the Voyager (i cant get enough of that voyager sub bass, so warm!) and the Little Phatty on this one.. I hope you enjoy it! :)

I decided to educate myself, and cover Depeche Mode's Any Second Now from the album Speak And Spell (1981).

All parts courtesy of the Moog Little Phatty - including the drums. I did run an external white noise source into the audio input for the downward swoop, but otherwise it's purely Phatty.

Reverb is Lexicon MPX1, EQ and mixing on the A&H Zed R16 firewire mixer/interface, panning and volume automation, and a touch of light compression, in Logic.

Enjoy. 8)

Here's the original for reference:

Needless to say, I did this for fun, not gain. If you like the piece, buy the original album. It sill stands up today, mostly, I think - some parts have dated better than others, but it's a great album for that stripped-back kind of electro-pop that many recent bands just don't do so well.

This is a true work of brilliance. One of the best covers I have ever heard. I will pass the word and share this with people! Well done, sir. :)

Here is a clip from my track where I used the Slim Phatty for the bass :

Really dig the roundness of the SP bass :)
