Second that!! -
In fact I need to make one and can do so, being an experienced software developer: I have sent mails to Moog support as well as Amos enquiring for the SysEx spec and have received no answers so far. SysEx spec should be public and in the Manuals as far as I am concerned - it is natrually part of the spec for the product one has bought - why it is so hard to get is beyond me.
It is possible to suss out the SysEx I suppose, by tweaking parameter by parameter and see the changes in the SysEx dump - meticoulus and boring work that I have not yet had the time to do ...

Although I think Moog probably should release the Sys Ex info, I would rather they take care of the software editior - after all this way it will be made freely available... it will be a free application won't it Amos?

I can understand you want it for free and agree that Moog should make one, but that does not mean they should keep the SysEx "secret" as a matter of principle.
If Moog is going to make one and give it away for free, that is great - no need to worry about competition then.
If they want money for it and therefore want to keep the SysEx "secret", that is their choice, albeit not a sympathetic one IMHO.
If I make one it would not be entirly free and I could even agree to keep the price above theirs whenever it arrives.
I have bought a product that I otherwise think is great in many aspects, especially the physical quality of the pedal itself, and cannot see any good reason that the SysEx should be kept from customers - no way is there any big money in this either way you look at it.

I do, however, want the SysEx for other purposes as well and a software editor would come as more of a by-product off of that.
I find it rude not to give an answer when someone asks for this data - one can choose to assume that "support" is in China and can only answer "standardized" questions.

Might as well make a "generic" SysEx Editor that you can "teach" the ropes as I have other equipment where the manufacturer is no more .. will cost me uneccessaary time though.

Go on Moog, give him the SysEx... and please make me an editor!

Hi Moog, has there been any movement on the editor yet? I've had the product quite a while now, and I love it. The missing software editor is my only critiicism of the product. Please sort it out soon.

A software editor is really needed for this pedal. I'm sure there's a great interest in this. Please let us know if there's any progress. Thanks.

There's still nothing else on the market that does what the MP-201 can do. So this forum is the only place where we can push it forward.

Thought I should post an update on my work with an editor for the MP201.
During last autumn I was between jobs and I worked on an Editor for the MP201.
Believe I got 70 - 80% of the work done (mapped out the sysex for the first channel (there are some small differences between the 4 in the SysEx buffer) and implemented the GUI for all 4 channels in WPF) when my MP201's midi port broke -probably when my machine restarted due to a failure in the power - consequently I do not keep the USB midi connected unless I am using it.
Had to send the pedal for repair to Moog in US and got it back 7 - 8 weeks later.
Meanwhile I started in a new job that takes up all my time, so sorry to say that this Editor "project" has been put on hold and even if I have some spare time it is second in line as a hobby project, so I sincerly doubt much will happen from my side(unless my current job folds).
I also decided that a generic solution, which I assumed could be fun, would require to much "straight-line" user involvement as in changing the individual parameters 1 by one and duly noting in a GUI what had been done etc.

Sorry if I have given any of you false hopes - had not the midi port been busted I would probably have published this Editor in January.

Anyway, I think Moog should do this themselves as new revisions to the firmware would have to be reflected in the SysEx making the life of a 3rd party Editor precarious.

I have only owned my MP201 for a couple weeks and already see the need for a computer based editor. It is simply insanely tedious to have to jump back and forth with the knob, pedal and acouple buttons to get all this done. Something as simple as naming the channels is mindnumbing.
It would also be great if we could edit parameters in real time while not in edit mode!
It makes it hard to get an envelope right when you have to keep switching modes to change one portion of the envelope.

I think a software editor for the Taurus 3 should be held at a higher priority than the MP-201. Regardless of how awesome of a controller it may be, I think Moog should cover the editor grounds with all their synthesizers first and foremost.
