Oh yeah, the other thing I was going to mention, is that it might not be a bad idea to cover your Voyager with some kind of plastic or vinyl or even cotton sheet for set breaks. I cover my stuff even at home.

I just checked out an Oberheim OB-Xa that was working perfectly a year and a half ago. It just sat in a regular home environment since that time, and was a total mess. No smoking in the house, and a regularly dusty home like any other. Something to think about.

Finally, I say, if it's part of your sound, and it's going to be safe on stage, I say gig with the Voyager. Hell, Bob made these things to be played, not sit in a house and be babied.

Sometimes I take my LP out... but I don't take it to gigs where dancers will smash into it or something either... Every venue is different. But if you got it, I say use it and make the world a better place with your funky ass tones!!

Amen, brother. I never truly appreciated my Voyager until the first time I played it on stage.

No smoking inside where I come from. I do remember one gig (pre-law change (even pre-voyager!)) when my pedal board came back covered in ash though... Blegh!

AFAIK it depends on the kind of smoke. Once a crook told me that specific kinds of smoke CAN make moog synthesizers sound more mind blowing.

Seriously, as stated above I also think that the true purpose of every synthesizer is to be played in "funky" enviroments.

I was thinking of picking up a Tetra so that I woldn't have to worry about my Prophet '08 SE getting crashed into on a gig by drunk revellers. But depending on the gig, I really ought to bring my Voyager RME out sometime... I've got a gorgeous rack mount for it and the VX boxes for just this reason...

Some specific kinds of smoke make many synths sound more mind blowing, regardless of their proximity to the smoke.
Stage II, MF-102, MF-105m, MF-107, paia theremin, akai s2000, yamaha pss 680, yamaha cp 25, and other stuff
