Low-cost Monosynth w/ Memory??????

bought a micro a few days ago. really tight little synth. the vocoder is especially cool. there's a software editor for it at korg.. free of course. help i am blowing all of my cash on synths!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, I'm almost the same. What doesn't go towards pocket money goes towards at least one synth purchase (or similar) a year.

Consider the Alesis ION. I've owned Moog's, Oberheim's, and a Prophet 5. I've read where some people that own Moog Model D's, and Voyagers have an ION for playing live. I doubt that they would have and use one if it wasn't any good. I just bought one and I love it. Street price is $699.00, which is the best value on the market. I also considered the DSI POLY, but then you need to buy a controller and before you're finished, you could easily get up to $2000.00 in it. That's pretty expensive for a lead synth, even though the POLY has 4 voices. I went for the ION because it has a smooth sound and sounds similiar to my old MOOG products, as well as the Prophet 5. Is it as gutsy? Probably not, but pretty darn close. Its worth looking into, especially if you don't want to spend a ton of money.

Hey Mike,

I know you made this post a while ago, but I figured I'd share this. I've seen ads for the Alesis Micron, and it does seem a tad bit more profitable for the money than the MicroKorg. Anyone else here had a chance to use it? I'd love to get my fingers on it, soon.
