I have a Mackie 1202 VLZ3. It's awesome. I can sub-mix 4 keyboards in stereo, and still have 4 channels left over for mics, whatever else, etc. Of course, I could use them in pairs and do 6 boards, I'm just stating how I use it.

I also have the little gig bag with it, which is great - once it's in there, I can toss it in the same case as my cabling, etc, and I know it's safe.

Makes life VERY easy for a multi-keyboard rig without eating up tons of channels.

Looks like everybody quoting for 1202, thanks.
What do i need to check and any consideration when buying a used mixer on the spot? (this model in particular)

Mackie 1402 here. If you can find it for a reasonable price get it. I also have a TOA D4. Great little mixer.

test the knobs for "scratchiness" when you turn em. I doubt you'll run into that though, these are pretty new mixers.

One more :-)

Mackie 1604 VLZ (the original VLZ!) for the studio. Mackie 802 VLZ3 for live. Both excellent mixers with some great features.

My old Mackie 1202vlz for home, zero problem, and my TC Konnekt Live firewire interface for gig, with great onboard effects on outputs (compressor, reverb) and a Tuner

I wanted a small rack mounted mixer that was very quiet for hooking up my synths (MicrokorgXL,Access virus c,Little phatty) to my Apogee duet and after doing some research on many forums i ended up buying a 'Rane SM82S' , Im well happy with it :D

Now that I've started using the Alesis MultiMix 8 Line, I certainly recommend it. Nice and quiet and a huge improvement over the Behringer line mixer I got rid of and the ART that I've been using since.

Speck XtraMix. Bought used some years ago for 1400, threw another 700 at it this year for a re-cap etc. Just a Kawai K5000S, Korg M-3/73, Adrenalinn and my bass rack running into it right now, but I'll be adding gear for years before I run out of inputs.

I'm reserving channel 2 for the can't-get-here-soon-enough Taurus pedals (seems logical) and I can see a Phatty working its way in there soon.

A new Xtramix would be over the top ridiculous for most but with the way the studio business is anymore you might find a used one with a price you can live with. I am by no means a gear snob, but I don't get the idea of running expensive synths and other gear thru cheap mixers.

The only other mixer that I have is that on the Roland VS 840 that I use to record on.

Anyone using Alesis MultiMix 12r, looks very functional for the price. Just wondering how the pre-amps sound. I have a Behringer 1204fx-pro cheap, works, if it broke I wouldn't cry though!

I used to work with an Allen & Heath ZED14 which is actually quite a good mixer for it's price. Now I use its biggest brother, the ZED436, mainly for a total analog signal path for all my equipment (I used to route most signals through my firewire audio interface).
