Actually, if any of those are really broken they will just need some TLC. NOthing that can't be fixed.

...hmmm, y'all think maybe he's putting us on? ... I mean, he mentions "modular stuff", then jan hammer, lists a bunch of the typical must-have vintage gear, and says he gets no sound? Come on, if it's just one synth, yeah, maybe the filter is all the way down, but that situation times four? ... hey, I'll be happy to be wrong here, but somehow...

It does seem like a troll and if someone said “oh, I just bought an Sh-1, SH-2, SH-3a, SH09 and an SH-101. How do I make soundz?” I would say for certainty it was a troll. However, since it is Moog I wouldn’t be surprised if some jackass decided to jump in head first and buy everything with moog on it. Don’t get me wrong, I own 2 moogs and I like moog but I’m really tired of the whole fanboy nonsense. There is no logical reason beyond collecting all things moog, that a person would need to buy 5 entry level synths of the same brand. I know this board is generally very positive and nice and I’m not trying to be a jerk but this thread begs for a common sense check… whether it’s real or not.

otto, I was thinking the same thing. I had the chance to buy a Micro and a Prodigy. I wish I'd bought the Micro, but I'm glad I didn't get the Prodigy. As for the fanboy nonsense, well, I kinda fall into that category. I'll certainly look to Moog before other brands, but Synths.com and Future Retro both make stuff I'm interested in. My whole rig right now is Moog, but in the future it won't be. At least I figured out how to get sounds out of a Prodigy after playing around for five minutes.

EDIT-look again at the first post. Opus 3 is separated from the synths that "don't make noise". He says he's got a Satellite on the way, which is the weakest Moog ever built. The whole post screams TROLL.

the rogue worked the next time i used it (played it out of a amp, instead of the pa) (and checked the cutoff.....)

yes i also have a minimoog. the have a different feel to them thus far but yes, I've just begun to scratch the surface and am new to playing moogs.

Subject: What is a troll? A troll is someone who makes one post, usually related to a thread or topic but sometimes not. I find it interesting that this topic went on for so long, what with us trying to figure out why on earth you'd buy a bunch of vintage gear without first learning the basics about how it works, wondering if this was going to be your only post in this forum, like so many trolls who've come before and after you, etc.; yet you JUST NOW reply and erase all doubt of you being a troll.

Glad you got it all worked out, although I don't understand why the Rogue works out of an amp and not a PA. It should work on both. How's that Satellite working out?

the guy i bought it from was in toronto, so it was stuck at customs. gonna pick it up this week.....hopefully it has one useable feature

yea about this post in summary:
i just started buying all the moog models to try them out and finally the first one came in and i don't recall exact why it didn't make sound (the rogue) but i was pressing the panic button thinking "o great now i need more equiptment" so i wanted to know what else to get asap.

but dam, i've barely even delved into this stuff but i'm getting more and more eager...hopefully it's my life's calling

Interesting story. Well, good luck! IMHO, a Little Phatty would have been a better starting point. First of all, you'd be able to learn what each function does, how each parameter affects the sound, etc. and it would be easier to learn. This is why I chose the LP over vintage gear. Anyways, good luck, and come back here whenever you have an issue to work out.

missed out on bidding w/ a memorymoog. hopefully there will be another one up soon enough.

Have you messed with the polymoog yet? I hear those things are pretty much failsafe. Id love to get one.

It's your money, and I'm not trying to get at you, but if I had 20k to spend on synths, I'd be buying a range, not just Moogs.

Is there some reason you want to go "Moog Complete?"

I say, if I won the lottery, one of every Voyager select would be top priority! As well as one of each OS...ash and whitewash. Also an LP Stage II with blue lights.
