Well, you already have a USB MIDI interface (your Little Phatty) so if you want to record a MIDI triggered sequence/sound/whatever you only need to plug the audio out of the Moog to the audio in on your M-Box and your good to go.

So you don't need to use a MIDI cable to record music? Sweet, that makes it easy!

You CAN'T use MIDI. The signal path for the audio is 100% analog. MIDI is digital. So while the LP CAN send MIDI signals, those signals cannot be used to transmit audio. I'm sure there's a better way to explain it, but that's how my brain works...not very efficiently. Which is why I'm so good at working for the government.

MIDI is a signal which transmits data (note/velocity/etcetera information), not an audio signal. Therefore you can't record sound through a MIDI cable, you will always need an audio signal.

You can see MIDI as "the fingers that are playing the synth", rather than the synth itself. What it sounds like is totally depending on what synth you are putting under the fingers ...

so MIDI would just be used to control something, i.e. another keyboard, and the audio out is the actual sound?

Midi is like sheet music. Your computer can use midi to play back the notes for you. Audio is the actual sound wave itself.
