Well, bigcitymusic has a Stage 1 on their ebay store for $1,119. I have an ebay coupon that would get it to $1,019. The stage 1 can be updated to get all the functions of the stage 2, correct?
Yeah you can upgrade it from Stage I to Stage II. I did it, and there are at lot of useful features, but you already know that.

I would go for the Phatty, or save up for the Voyager.

Your synths are so bleeping cheap i the US, I live in scandinavia a Phatty costs about 1.800$. Thats crap!

I think I would keep the Prodigy as well for future repairs, and get a nice new LP
Can't have too many Moogs for sure;)

Thanks for everyone's advice! I took the plunge...Novamusik had an ebay sale $1050 for brand new Stage 1's, which will still be eligible for the CP-251. And I used my 10% off Ebay coupon, got it down to $950, and I took the advice and did it through Microsoft Live Cashback...just got my message I'm eligible for $200 back. so I think I just scored an LP and a CP-251 for $750 flat.

Bless you, internet. Now to sit by the door all week waiting for my package....

Let me tell you something. I was sitting here a few months ago, it was after the Grammy sale and after I had gotten my Delay, Freq and Cp251. You know when you make a large purchase like that and you are like..."I probably won't be able to buy anything for awhile."

And you guys don't know how bad I wanted a Voyager, and you don't know how crappy it was to have my foogers racked with a massive hole in there where a Vx351 needed to be.

Then //OSS (forum poster) came in and showed pictures of his Phatty and Foogs that he bought. We exchanged some pm's and he told me that NovaMusik could get me one heck of a deal.

So I called NM and they hooked me up with a fantastic deal on a Voyager Select AND a Vx-351 (I got it for 2999 to my door).

This was like a blessing that fell into my lap. So I scrounged up the money like a miracle and I bought it.

I passed this blessing onto you my friend. NovaMusik is the best!

I don't understand. How did you use Microsoft Live Search Cashback on an ebay order?

You do a live.com search until you see an add for a percentage off on the product on ebay (in the ads box near the top of live.com. Click it, it takes you to ebay, and you have to do buy it now and use paypal within 60 minutes of initiating the live session (at least, ebay says 60 mins...I think microsoft says "not to exceed 24 hours"

Read up about it here:

I got it! And though Nova Musik's ebay listing said Stage 1, I opened the box to find a shiny stage II! And the invoice says stage II, so it doesn't seem to be a mistake. Hooray for no need to update the os!

First impressions are good overall. It isn't quite as warm as my poor little Prodigy, and it doesn't have quite the immediacy of that synth (meaning, basically, less knobs, having patch memory...patch memory - while convenient - makes me feel about one level removed from the synth). And the sync isn't as rude...but the prodigy has some seriously bratty sync.

But man! It does a lot more than my Prodigy. And my Prodigy is an early model with no CV connections, so my foogers finally get to party with a synth other than my Juno 60's filter control. Rock.

The LP is more complex than any synth I've owned (which is only the juno and prodigy) so I'm still wrapping my head around modulating things with osc 2, noise, etc.

Can you only route the LFO to one destination at a time? The Prodigy let me route the LFO to pitch and filter at the same time. I'm sure actually reading the manual will explain...

Now to send in my form for that 251...

No. There is a second mod destination that you can activate in the menus.

I'm jealous. You got a great deal on the Stage II ($750 is a steal) and you get the free CP-251. If I had waited two weeks to buy my LP, I could have gotten the free CP-251.
