More interestingly, this guy mentions playing sound directly the SID using a MSP-equipped c64. Seems to good to be true.

I'm pretty sure it just a sequencer/MIDI interface/drum something-or-other. I don't know what that guy is smoking....

If you were feeling a bit masochistic and knew whatever dead software language the Song Producer was coded in, I bet you could rig something up. But I can't imagine that would be very fun or rewarding

Hey, you guys didn't take the "Geek Tour" to this page:
http://www.ghastlycomic.com/geekroom/gr-08.html
He claims he uses a program M64 to access the SID synth.
The Moog Songstepper is very buggy on my system. You have to save to
disk very often as the next command could freeze up the system and
you have to reboot. Glad I only paid $5.00 for mine back when there
was a seller on Ebay selling these every week. Said he had a wharehouse
full of them. Not sure if Moog ever sold these to the public?
People seem to pay crazy prices for these because the MOOG logo on it.

My god, you have got to be kidding. That makes me sick to my stomach. I love how the auction states:

"A real masterpiece of moog history!"

A don't even know how to respond to that. Its too ridiculous to even be called ignorance.

Thing is, I saw someone else on a totally different website also claim to have used it to play the SID directly.

Anyhow, I'm curious enough to fire it up. If it isn't useful for anything, I can at least make a disk of the software and resell it with that, which should make it go for more than the $10.50 I paid. Either way it's a winning situation.

EDIT: actually looked at the page you were talking abou; I'd jsut kind of assumed that the software you mentioned was something he'd coded himself, nmot something freely downloadable. Thanks for pointing it out!
