I would love to demo one but I am in Cincinnati and none of the music stores around here carry them. Online demos and others' testimony are the only things I have to go on.
To add to my earlier post, let me just say that I bought my Voyager sight unseen from an online retailer. I had never even played one until it showed up on my doorstep. I had the money, and I jumped at the chance to own one. I have no regrets whatsoever. The electric blue lighting is amazing, I'm sure the solar will be equally impressive (if you prefer orange).

You can always return it if you don't like it. Speaking from personal experience, I have NO regrets. I love the synth, I love the company...I'm a very satisfied customer.

Right now my Voyager is back at Moog because of an LED problem, and to get the new afterpressure upgrade. The support was great. I can tell you I'm having a hard time now that it's not here. I don't know how I'm gonna make it 3 weeks without my Voyager. It's THAT important to me. :D

As for the polyphony issue, well...that's why I bought a Dave Smith Polyevolver...

One of the greatest synths of all time combined with the greatest and most personal service of all time. Enough said.

I BOUGHT A USED VOYAGER FOR $2K IN 2004. I WAS LEERY MYSELF, BUT I WAS SICK OF MY VIRUS KEYBOARD, THE SOUNDS IRRITATED ME AFTER 40 MINUTES... THE VOYAGER, ON THE OTHER HAND....IT FIT IN PERFECTLY WITH MY BEATS, INSTANTANEOUSLY!

THAT SYNTH IS MAGIC, STRAIT UP.

YOU'RE GETTING OLDER EVERY DAY, BUY THE VOYAGER ALREADY.

IF YOU END UP NOT DIGGIN IT, SELL IT & MOVE ON TO THE NEXT THING.

ITS WORTH IT JUST TO KNOW.

I DIDN'T REALLY START LEARNING ABOUT SYNTHESIS TIL I GOT THIS INSTRUMENT! I DIDN'T EVEN HARDLY LIKE SYNTHESIZERS AT ALL! WHEN I GOT THE VOYAGER, I REALIZED WHY...

BUT 2 YEARS LATER, ITS STILL HOLDING ITS GROUND IN MY SETUP. COULD NOT SAY THAT FOR THE VIRUS, OR YAMAHA SY88...

ITS THE DOPE SH*T, PERIOD.

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to thank you for your feedback. I am going to get one of these. My only problem now is whether to get 2 RME's or one Voyager Solar. I really, really like the look of the keyboard, though, and I am fascinated by the touch pad.

Decisions, decisions...

Maybe I should just buy all 3!!

I also bought mine sight unseen. I would say you should definitely get the keyboard verision, it really adds to the whole instrument feel. The touchpad is great, too.

Now your thinking! Hey, your profile says you are an attorney, you can afford it :)

Forget the RME - get the keyboard.

Another thing you can do is use the Voyager as a midi controler to control a digital synth module and run it through the Voyager's filters and EG's. That way you can get some sort of fake poly going on.

The Voyager's filters make just about anything sound bitchen/warm/analog/________.

<< I am going to get one of these. My only problem now is whether to get 2 RME's or one Voyager Solar. >>

Congrats on the decision. I've always felt that owning a Voyager is a bit like having a Porsche (or insert name of your preferred fantasy car here) in the driveway. It may not be your 'daily driver', but you always take great personal satisfaction in owning one.

<< and I am fascinated by the touch pad. >>

The Touch Surface seems to get a mixed reaction from Voyager owners. Some really love it, some dislike it, and some are just neutral about it. Regardless, consider it a nice extra form of control that's built into a great instrument.

<< Maybe I should just buy all 3!! >>

Nah, you'll just make the rest of us jealous!
