I'm really excited, can;t wait to get mine! I won't be using it as a controller anyways, but to have the capability just makes it more the reason to buy one.

the voyager aftertouch is the worst I have ever used and they know it at Moog too. They were suppossed to be working on a fix, but no news yet. Maybe the lackluster nature of the present Moog aftertouch affected their decision.

This is a lead/performance instrument...most people will have it along with their controller

Ive not played one board where aftertouch has really added anything useful to the synth imo.
I know what its meant to do and it fails on all counts. Its a waste of money and time for moog to implement it in the phatty. The voyager doesnt need it either..i dont reckon they'll waste any time trying to improve it. Valuable resources are best spent elsewhere, like on an upcoming polysynth.........

I have aftertouch on my current controller (DX-7 IIFD).
Works great with other DX7's - all my other gear is nearly all analogue
so I don't miss the feature, except my SCI Multitrak seems to have a
sense for aftertouch for some reason!

yeah i really like the aftertouch on my DX7, are you going to sell yours once you get the phatty rachel

Hmmm, I have had the DX since new. I even installed a GreyMatter Response
E! board in it way back then. I think I will keep it but pack it away for awhile because I have run out of space and I'd rather play the Jupiter 6 and the Phatty
then the DX7 these days!
I had a DX100 that died about 15 years ago.
Sent it to a repair guy who shot through with it
and never returned my calls and so on. Oh well....

Wow. There are plenty of uses for aftertouch...usually you need to scale it to your personal touch for it to be usefull at all. For bringing in vibrato when the modwheel is routed to cutoff or for bringing in subtle filter modulation, AT is perfect...god forbid we start making instruments less expressive.goldphinga wrote:Ive not played one board where aftertouch has really added anything useful to the synth imo.
That said, I have no interest for AT on the Little Phatty - its a fine leadmonster without - but I wouldn't want to live without AT on my Polyevolver Keyboard or my CS60.

I play two synths at all times and almost never have a free hand, so aftertouch is indispensible, and a board without aftertouch is of little use to me. Even if I did have a free hand, aftertouch still provides a very useful modulation source. Perhaps a dislike of aftertouch is due to a lack of imagination for its application.
