The Boss (my wife) told me that I still need to free up more room and $ in order to buy any new gear. Well the Voyager, Mini D will definately stay as far as Moogs are concerned but my Source maybe forced to the trading block at some point.

Just sold some of my old Juno's, Obies that just were no longer getting any useage and all the Emu gear is now gone as well. I cannot see the new LP making its way into my studio as I'd rather keep the Source.
dont sell it! you'll just miss it and have to buy it back for even more.

The Moog Source looks cool but I would be too afraid of the touch sensitive pads going out especially after forking over that much cash for one.

i haven't purchased one, but i hear they are identical to the originals and work and look great. i've been thinking about buying one more and more lately, as according to the ebay seller he only made a limited run (of 100).
by the way, he (chipforbrains) seems to be a legit replacement parts seller. I've had only good transactions with him.

I bought one last year for my Source - works a treat.
Peel off the old one, clean up the surface with some isopropanol, poke the ribbon of the new membrane through the slot, unpeal the paper off the back and stick it down (best to carefully put some even weight on it for a day or two . . a few hardback books for instance), plug the ribbon back in and your done.
Great - chipforbrains is a life saver!

The source has great looks, great name, and great sound, but that single knob just turns me right off. At least "The Little Phatty" has one knob per module.
Yeah, but that knob was one hell of a knob . . smooth . . weighted . . . you could give it a twist and it would go on it's own, great for opening up the filter while playing two hand solos.
In my mind, moog missed a trick on the LP . . if it had 4 freeflow, weighted knobs like The Source that would have been the business . . imagine, you could give the OSC sync a twist while the filter opened!
Also, I think they should have had dedicated knobs for the filter, from what I see it's not possible to tweak the res and cut-off at the same time (can this be done via an expression pedal?).

Really! Can't wait to try that when I get home..... After all these years with a Source and now a new feature that I didn't know about!

After getting home and playing with my Source, it turns out that I knew about the pulse width all along. Took getting in front of the controls to spark my memory. I just don't use the pulse wave on the Source very often (obviously!!).

You got to be kidding me. The Source has some badass pulse waves.

yeah, just plug the expression pedal into the filter in (this will give you control over cutoff) and use the filter section knob to control the resonance, if you wanted knob control over both you could combine the expression pedal with the cp 251.

Even so, it is just not the sound that I am looking for from that little gem....
