You attach the iU2 to the 30pin port of the iPhone.

Then, you run a stereo line out of the iPad's headphone jack (?) into the input port of the iU2.

Then you run a cable OUT of the iU2 to your computer.
The result is you can manipulate the iPad's Animoog signal via the iPhone's Filtatron app, and hear all of this beautifully insane sound on the computer?
I used a slightly different setup (devices swapped), but the results would be the same.
The USB connection can be used as the I/0 for the computer. The iU2 is recognized by Windows 7 and doesn't use any additional drivers, but it probably needs them, sine the audio over USB was a bit choppy. The S/PDIF audio was crisp, clean, and sounds awesome!
Looks like the new TASCAM interface is still going to use the 30-pin connector. Hopefully, it will work with the dock connector adapters for the new generation of iOS devices, and will include audio drivers for Windows 7 & 8.
